Lets take it back to the very, very beginning and a hometown gig for Mick and Keith.

I suggest Dartford theatre, Kent. This would be great as I also wouldn't have to travel far to get to this gig :p

In a field on Barrington Downs - (in Gloucestershire, for the few of you who won't know where it is!)

it's a county in a place called England.

It's the birthplace of a bloke called Brian Jones, who formed
a popular, beat-combo called The Rolling Stones.

We are a very small community on Barrington Downs. Two Stones fans, two Bolton Wanderers fans, a wife and several dogs. Oh, and some feral cats.

I completely agree. Look at KISS....they've been doing a "farwell tour" since 1996. Now they're more of a laughing stock than they ever were. And what's hilarious is the fact that Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley know that they're a joke now and settled nicely right into the role. I gotta hand it to Ace Frehley, he knew when to tell those clowns "see ya later!"

Getting back to the point....I too hope the Stones never announce a "farwell tour". Just do a final show. And my vote for that venue would be Madison Square Garden, NYC.

Hope they don't ever sink low enough to announce a fairwell tour or show.

I've heard rumours about a "Farewell Leavell Tour", next year. Don't know if Chuck is too happy about it.

A lot of people seem to want the Stones to play such a gig in the town or region that they happen to live

Adrian-L is, to my knowledge, the only member of this board who has a justifiable case for such a request.

You saying I have no justifiable case for the gig to be in Rohnert Park, CA? They're just finishing up a beautiful new amphitheater.....

The last gig...
The best places for this event have been named previously in this topic : Marquee Club and Hyde Park.
Why not a 12 songs setlist at the Marquee with only blues and old Stones titles, show broadcasted on a jumbotron screen in Hyde Park and a couple of hours after that, a 15 warhorses songs only show in the park ?
