Bergen stage is comming up right now...
...and I'm watching from the camp x-ray. The furniture are in place. We worked untill 01.00 this morning. The only remaining work is vacuuming, cleaning, dusting and the piping and draping. Hope they'll be really comfortable and feel they're welcome! We've waited for a loooong time. This concert was supposed to be on June 6th... So - almost three months later - they're here. My cab driver said this morning that this is the beginning of a new era. Before and after the Stones visited Bergen. People are crazy here! Even really old people, like in their 60's, are over excited.

What does the stage look like? Is it the Bigger Bang stadium stage, or a smaller one? Thanks for the info shidoobee.

It's the arena stage. Koengen is a really small, intimate site, very piqtoresque, especially at night, when the fortress very visible. Therefore they couldn't bring the huge stage. That would have meant thy could only sell 18.000 tickets. But there will be a B-stage. It's almost in place now. And the arrangement with the little journey through the crowd is also on.
But I think Keith will have to take a walk across the concert site with his magic stick to stop the rain... Or else we'll get "Rain Fall Down" - which is also good!

I work for a tour operator specialized in trips to Scandinavia and we can't find a single room in all of Bergen for the next few days :-)
Everybody in the company is cursing the Stones every 2 seconds.

NRK (main TV station in Norway) had a news report from Bergen at 7pm today, showing the stage building, and the sale of 300+ tickets at noon today, price categories 2000 NOK (golden circle = 250 euro) and 1100 nok (130 euro). As the box office closed at 5pm they still had a few tickets available. They will be sold 10am tomorrow morning. See this links:

Bergen is building up the excitement now, and the city will be raving mad about the Stones by show day Friday. And Hansa beer local Bergen brewery is of course recommended. Great beer and in fact my favorite. Hansa Premium or Hansa Fatøl. Or any other Hansa.

Does anybody know if there is something going on before the show? And after? I know Chris Jagger is going to have a concert at Logen after the Stones-show, which surely gonna be a good one, but is there something else?

Stay away from Ringnes. It is Danish owned beer from Oslo. Carlsberg own them. They are hated by any city in Norway. May be not Oslo because it used to be local. Every city had their own brewery until Carlsberg and Ringnes started to buy them. Then replace their local brew with their own mass production brew branded withy their own local owned brand. Tou, CB, Nordlandsbryggeriet. A shame really. I think Hansa is still Hansa at least it taste great. If you see a restaurant in Bergen selling Ringnes it is like drinking Heineken in a German bierstube. Not good for your health.

By the way take a look at the elite series football table for Norway right now. Brann is the team from Bergen. And they are total football crazy of course, being on top of the world right now:

Who cares about Swedish teams and UEFA? When you go to Bergen ask them about their football team - BRANN. Their pride. They are number one in Norway now, just a few games away from the end of the season. I think Mick will make a comment about it on Friday, as they will still be number one then. A must to know before you travel to Bergen.

About meeting place.I am now looking at some places around "festplassen". Dickens should be a great place. With Hansa of course:

Dickens er perfekt! Godt øl, bra mat og en fantastisk ostekake med jurdbærcoulis... Like ved Hotell Norge. Jeg gikk til Koengen på 12 minutter uten å svette. Dessuten er det jo like ved Logen, der Chris skal spille.

Then there's Boca Bar and TGIF. Tested them this weekend. They're nice. Full of excentric locals, full og love for their home town. And they LOVE to talk.

Hvor tidlig tror dere man bør møte opp ved porten for å komme lengst mulig frem... har bare "vanlig" billett til hovedområdet! Dette blir vilt. Første agng jeg får sett Stones!

Dickens er bra. Ellers er jo Scruffy Murphy's på Bryggen et skapelig sted, om enn litt mindre. Finnegan's ved teateret er bra om man vil sitte ute, under tak, med varme; det kan man også gjøre vis a vis Dickens, mind; Logehagen. Når på torsdag og fredag?
