Stones appearing in Beverly Hills 209010 in 1995

Last week I was zapping in german TV and saw Beverly Hills 209010
(the older members of this board might remember this silly proramme).
It featured a concert of the Stones.
Keith looked so much younger then. Well, it's 12 years ago...
There was one scene, when two of the protagonists were wandering
around the stage before the concert; this huge stage in an empty stadium.
It was an interesting view.
I was astonished to find the Stones presented in this context -
it seems that they really attract very different kinds of audiences.
Did they shoot the concert-scenes especially for this proramme, or was it
taken from the voodoo lounge dvd?

taken from a fan page:

Jim gets Brandon tickets to the Rolling Stones' Rose Bowl concert, but a hearing to determine the legality of his presidency is moved to the night of the concert. Jesse argues that Brandon is already the legitimate president, as he has been calling senate meetings to order; the challenge to the presidency is denied. Brandon takes Andrea to the concert. Kelly gets backstage access through the magazine, while braggart Steve has trouble getting in at all after a hippie steals his wallet. Ray and Donna work as vendors and see the show free of charge. David and Clare go to the concert even though they claim to hate the group, but have to turn to a scalper when Mel lets them down. Steve and his father force Dylan out of the Peach Pit After Dark. He agrees to sell his shares when Steve, Nat and Willie (the cook) visit him in rehab. Dylan and Valerie agree to stop seeing each other, as he doesn't want to involve her in his problems. During group therapy, Dylan has a confrontation with Charley, an older man who likes to bully other patients instead of dealing with his own problems. Charley seeks Dylan's help to finally overcome his addiction.

Music: "You Got Me Rocking," "It's Only Rock `N' Roll," (#16, 1974), "Not Fade Away," "Love Is Strong" and "Start Me Up" (#2, 1981) by the Rolling Stones; "Money (That's What I Want)" by Barrett Strong (#23, 1960); "Hold On," performed by Jamie Walters

23rd November: US TV (FOX) ‘Beverly Hills 90210’ “Rock Of Ages”, incl.
- footage from New Jersey 14.8.94 (all songs incomplete).
Note: The whole plot of this sequel is connected with The Rolling Stones.

so we solved the question, it`s taken from the voodoo dvd

well, i might have been passed out for a year too...
no, it was longer.
what is a year, when you get older?
wasn't the start of the tour in 94 and in 95 they
went to europe?
but the copyright of the programme was 1995.

Thank goodness, at this point I can't afford to lose any more years.

That reminds me of a parody I saw on MadTV a while back for a new teen oriented show called "Pretty White Kids With Problems." That just about sums up all those shows in a nutshell.

I think the footage was shot live at the Stones concert in LA and not using clips from Giants Stadium. I remember seeing that episode at the time and I think I've seen it on reruns since.

I agree it was shot at the Rose bowl. Some of the scenes were shot from a press booth with the Stones Live in The Background.

Nope. The storyline was about going to see the Stones at the Rosebowl. The footage however comes from Giants Stadium - same video footage thats used in the Voodoo Lounge concert video that was sold at the shows and also for the promo video for the 'You got me rocking' single.

Jim Walsh cranking "You Got Me Rockin'" on the family stereo while yelling over the music "The Stones - they still got it! Yeah!" is pretty much my favorite television moment ever.

I wonder who signed the Stones up for that commerical partnership?

presumably the same genius who thought it would be a great shot in the arm for their credibility to tie them in with a "Days of our lives" episode just over a decade later.

A move which in terms of coolness, relevance and street cred makes the "90210" episode seem like a musical hook-up with the next Tarantino film by comparison.

I'd love to see some stylized film with music conducted by the Stones or with a complete Stones soundtrack. I guess the closest we'll ever come to that is a Scorsese or Wes Anderson movie.

i can't find my old vhs-tapes, so i can't check this out now.
in this programme they did "love is strong", but i think
this song is on no official stones live-cd or dvd (or vhs).
it wasn't on the "voodoo lounge"-dvd, no?
compared with the other songs they did, "love is strong" sounded
more like a playback.
i'd like to hear a decent life-version of that tune.
suggestions for a good source?

I think the picture is from theconcert and the music is from the record (VL). It was the Beverly Hills 90210 production that had the CD music pu on. The Stones played live at the concert.

The first time they used a crappy show to advertise their album and tour, right? Well, even BH was better then Days Of Our Lives. I was embarassed when my sister mentioned the Stones' appearance back then.
