this informotion is only good for the 22nd, last train on the 20th to Waterloo appears to be 11.52.!

I'd suggest anyone needing to get to central London on Sunday try to leave Twickenham asap after the concert,

concert curfew is 10.30

if you get to the Station asap, after the show, and join the queues,
you'll be ok

Given the curfew, would it be reasonable to assume that the Stones would be on stage by 8.30 then?

20:00.....what a waste of a light show and the added drama of darkness for the big entrance.
Chairs as well.
Small things that make for a real experience.
But, WTF, I still can't wait.......I've got that special feeling again.
I won't stop farting with excitement until they are on stage on Sunday.

God Bless The Stones, and all who sail with them, Oily.

I think last time, they were onstage at around 8:20pm. With the evenings getting darker earlier on a daily basis, by sunday or tuesday a lot of the light will be gone by then. I reckon onstage 8.25-8.30. Two hour show.

I agree with you about the lighting, its much more effective and dramatic when its totally dark. Amsterdam it was really light still, but it will be darker at twickenham.

Well people

I would ignore what South West Trains are saying. All the trains will be late. They couldn't direct traffic down a one way street let alone run a decent train service that runs on time.

I'm driving, at least I'll get to Twickenham without having to worry about leaves on the line, wrong type of snow, rain, passengers etc which is the usual bullshit they roll out each time they fcuk up!

Anyone know how late the bars open in London? I'm thinking of just staying awake after the show since I have to leave for the airport in the wee-wee hours.

Cindy
what airport are you flying from?

Re: Twickenham train advice

Stansted - I think it's about an hour or so from central London, so I figured if I could stay out till 2 or 3 am that would work.

By the way, they've now started on building the stage at Twickenham - lots of extra mobile cranes among the regular South Stand ones, and recognisable bits of the set being put together ...

I just booked Eurostar for my family return to paris on Aug 20-21. Cost me about 400 GBP, nonrefundable. They better not cancel, or I'm going to be spending the day at Madame Tussauds, very pissed off.

I think it's very rude that all hotels/airlines/etc. don't have a special Rolling Stones cancellation clause. It's really a disservice to all mankind.

Cindy

It would be possible for you to go to Stansted after the show IF you follow these directions.

11.12pm (latest train for this to work) Twickenham to Waterloo arrives 11.48pm.
00.04am (last underground Jubilee line) Waterloo to Stratford arrives 00.27am.
01.00am National Express bus A9 service Stratford (stop just outside Underground station) to Stansted arrives 01.45am. £8 one way.

I've used this A9 service several times in the past, at early times to check in for early flights, so it can be relied on. It runs every 30 mins 24 hours a day.

Hope you find this useful, you might want to check these sites:

Unless you have local knowledge - you will spend the entire night driving round in circles looking for somewhere to park. I took the train last time, it worked out ok - it got there at least. I expect security to be tight though.

for all people travelling out to Twickenham and returning to London:

buy a 'One day all-zone Travelcard' for £6.30. from any station.

It's good for unlimited travel pretty much anywhere in the London area by bus, train or the Underground.

Valid from 09.30am Monday to Friday and all day at weekends.

Re: Twickenham train advice

is that valid for national rail stations like twickenham which are actually outside the city?

Twickenham is in zone 5, if you get a "one day all zone" Travelcard, I believe it is.

Re: Twickenham train advice

yes.

The 'all-zone' means zones 1-6 and Twickenham is in zone 5.

check this out (you'll need to enlarge it).

So get in the zone !!!
