"96 Angus Young of AC/DC"

why did they feel the need to add 'AC/DC' after one of the most famous rock stars around ?

63 Danny Gatton??? He should be 62.

Crazy list.

If anyone saw Danny Gatton before he took his own life back in 1995. Please speak now. This guy is listed i think in the 60 some range and that my friend is a joke. He could out do anyone on this list. Now i know what your thinking and what your going to say. Go out and buy Redneck Jazz, or 88 Elmire St. or download anything you can find and then post your comments. Back in 1990 after playing at a guitar clinic extravaganza..... Eddie Van HAlen was suppose to come on stage after Danny and after he saw Danny play he then left the building and refused to play.

Ike was better at plucking Tina's face than guitar strings!

Ike was a brilliant guitarist and producer (Howlin' Wolf's earliest) - check out the many comps of his solo stuff or Kings Of Rhythm, the pre Tina recordings reissued on many comps in recent years.

These lists, unless you and your friends are sitting around with a few beverages, making them up, are fairly useless.

and where is David Grissom?

Re: OT-100 Greatest Guitarist Of All Time

Fair question--was listening to Whenever We Wanted earlier tonite and that record has some great, underrated, guitar on it courtesy of Mr Grissom.

Glass Slide,

You are correct, sir! Check him out on Larry McMurtry's Levelland and Joe Ely's Live at Liberty Lunch disc...talk about a guy that can carry a band!

Keith tops Duane Allman and Chuck Berry for sure. John Frucsiante is too low on there...

Kurt Cobain at No.12?!! lol

ahead of the likes of Guy,Santana,Wray, Cochran?!!

this list has zero credibility.

Cobain was not one of the greatest guitarists at all. He was a great songwriter and lived an interesting life and I think that that was the reason he's on there. But you're right Adrian: Musically that has nothing to do with it.

As much as I love the Stones, the Allman Brothers will always be my first love and this quote here is just pure bull feces.

Duane Allman should actually be number 1 on the list. The guy was 24 when he died, accomplished more than any guitarist before him as far as music is concerned and will be overlooked for the rest of his life. Why? I have no idea. He paved the way for slide guitarists to come, could improvise the hell out of a solo and was an all-around great guitarist. Nobody - not even Keith Richards - was playing that good that young. Check his work out on At Fillmore East or Eat A Peach. The proof is in the pudding.

Allman is a real legend who will sadly never be remembered for how important he really was to modern music history.

Peace out,

Duane

Well Duane. You're a fan of The Allman Bros. so of course you'll say that he goes on top.

Miss.. it's a matter of opinion.. I know loads of people that would put Steve Vai on number 1.

I think it's strange to publish a list like this as it is 100% subjective.

No Django? No Marc Ribot? No Leo Nocenetelli (Meters)? Stevie Ray Vaughn better than Keith?

Yet another list that makes me want to go on a kill crazy rampage.

Any list of greatest guitarists that doesn't start with Robert Johnson and places Stevie Ray Vaughn, George Harrison & Jack White above Hubert Sumlin, Steve Cropper & Robbie Robertson isn't worth $hit.

Somewhere, some kid is reading this list and believing it. For God's sake, think of the children!

Oh, and the Edge is better than Bo Diddley? I almost believe that.

Kirk Hammett is the #11 guitarist ever.
For me to poop on.
