This topic again?smiling smiley
Tumbling Dice is great, the crowd likes it a lot, it should, and probably will, stay forever. Great, joyuful mood, don't you see it?
Miss You would be more debatable, imo, especially since there is Rain Fall Down at some shows as well... But then again, what else should they be doing on the way to the b-stage.

From warhorses, I have least affection to HTW... but I ain't complaining and ain't saying they shouldn't play it, since it's one of their biggest hits, I know someone in the crowd is sure waiting for it...

YCAGWYW is one of the highlights of the show, people love the sing along... unforgettable moments, the part when Mick encourages the people to sing. This one must stay for sure, and it will, they know what works in big stadiums... regardless some hardcore fans are bored of it already - the stadiums are not full of this kind of people.

smile: good news, StonesTod! if you don't want to hear any of 'em anymore,
that can be quite easily (and cheaply!) arranged :E

SFTD..in 69 they did a killer version..than played it in 75, on some shows..than it was gone...till 89 ,it came back..and stayed on the list..till now..the version of this tour is better than they did ..since 89..but its a long song...and they can do three songs instead of this one!!It would be so nice to also have suprises in the second half of the show!!But that said...I love it all!!!HTW needs a slow intro ...with Charlie starting the thing..Start me up(great song..but hmmmmrather have MR at every show!!!).

DONT want to hear ever again :

Miss You
Satisfaction
Start Me Up

DO like hearing :
Sympathy
Jumpin Jack Flash
Tumbling Dice

DONT CARE (dont mind hearing them occasionally - but resting/rotating them would be welcome)
IORR
YCAGWYW
HTW
Brown sugar

None of the other songs are played often enough to be called a 'warhorse'

IORR

The record has some great moments, (the acoustic part at the end) but it's a weird tune that sounds like three or four songs grafted together.

Just never really worked for me.

Start Me Up and Miss You are the most overplayed ones.
And most of the versions are uninspired and lame.

okay - so out of idle curiosity - what's the ticket price for a warhorseless Stones show? And, I'm not interested in the On Stage Warhorseless Experience....

I just dont want to hear them play any songs at all anymore. I want to pay $100 for them to walk out there and sit there and tell jokes. I'm just so sick of these "WARHORSES" that I wish they'd just stop touring. These rare songs suck too. Why dont they just give it up.

*this is the scene where StonesTod steps in*

got no Sympathy for Sympathy . . . get rid of it. (as i've said before, it's become 'sympathy for chuck leavell' these days)

on the other hand, i'm outraged that so many fans want to see Tumbling Dice roll away . . .it may be the greatest warhorse of all - and one of the greatest rock songs of all time! just enjoy that groove!

Tumbling Dice would be much better live if they did it much slower and shorter. Kinda like they did with 19th Nervous Breakdown earlier on. Slinky/sexy version of Tumbling Dice, instead of that Vegas styled version which seems to be a tune put in the setlist just to showcase the backup singers. Drop them down in the PA mix. Let Chuck groove on the piano. Get Ronnie n Keith to both play Telecasters. Daryl will lay down a fabulous smooth bass groove and Charlie'll give us a slow groove just like on the original tune.

Thats the version I want to hear.

couldnt you just as easily say that the studio version is sympathy for Nicky Hopkins then?
