you seriously think the band (and especially Mick) could pull it off live ?

i had heard it was seriously considered/rehearsed for the Orpheum gig, but that may have been a false(tto) report....

If they can do Worried About You I believe they can Emotional Rescue live...it would very interesting!!!!!!!

Worried About You would be a lot less complex to play live (plus they played it in 1977 too).

personally, I'm a bit unconvinced by Mick's vocal on it on the last two tours. Seems a lot more strained and unnatural than the studio version

agree curtis - gazza's much too hard on this minor classic. it's just meant to be a fun little romp and it is....

hey, we're lucky if we can get cool guitar versions of guitar-driven songs these days....let's not get greedy!

StonesTod give me 3 reasons why I should give Phish another listen,They don't compare to bands like Traffic,Santana 69/74,or the Dead who I don't like but are compared to the most.I respect the Dead though.......

Emotional Rescue is an enjoyable album despite the fact that it's rather weak. CBTACO 19 sums up its standing in relation to the Stones other album very accurately. It is better than the Stones post Tattoo You releases. The title track is great.

Trey is cool only because he;s probably the reason they play other bands entire albums. The first time I heard Phish was in 94 doing the White Album. But I soon found out they couldn't write a song to save ther life.....StonesTod if you can tell me what to listen too I'll try it out only because I respect your Stones discussions

I won't give you ANY reasons. If you're not a jamband kinda guy, you're not going to like them. As far as jambands go, their songs tend to be pretty lightweight...but in the jamband world the song is merely the excuse for the jam, so that's not so important. They are all masterful musicians who play at an exceptional level - but that applies to much of the jazz I love and I won't bother to give you reasons to listen to Coltrane or Miles if jazz ain't your bag, either!

Hey Gazza, you were too hard on Indian Girl! I love the refrain (or is the chorus!) "Lesson number one, that you learn when you're young...Life just goes on and on getting harder and harder" If they could have cut and pasted that bit into a less bonkers song it couldve been great. Anyway, we can debate it in Glasgow.

BTW My tickets arrived recorded delivery today but I was out so Ive got to take my card to the mail depot to collect. Last time this happened with concert tix was Tom Waits at the Rex in Paris and they got sent back to Paris by mistake where they got lost! Got it sorted in the end tho!

Coltrane,Miles in the same paragraph as Phish, come on ,,I love Traffic,Santana69/74 live thats the best jamming you're gonna get..also I love the jazz you mentioned. But the Blues is my first love!!

I heard Mick do it in St. Louis,or was that Columbus? Well either way, Mick did it beautifully, as he does most things. And as far as the statement ofMick's vocal sounding strained and unnatural that the studio version... well, after all Gazza, it is live...not studio, I mean cant we all sound great in a studio???

I'm so Glad we have the Stones! What would our lives be like without them??

I'll settle for abnormal and kinda beat up, thanks just the same.

I agree with whoever on pg. 1 who said "Where the Boys Go" is one of their least favorite Stones tracks, overall. That track epitomizes to me the real pitfalls of this album. I can see from the perspective that the guitar licks are cool, but Ronnie and Keith were playing a lot of cool licks in those days. But, man those lyrics: they really brush up against the song in a bad way. It's like Jagger went into a locked room for an hour during the sessions and spent 5 minutes writing WTBG and the next 55 minutes working out some songs for what would be "She's the Boss."

Well then I'm dumbfounded. Songs aside, I've rarely heard jamming done as well as Phish. Your loss, I'm afraid...

Wanted to comment about Phish.. they are very jazz influenced and some of their songs can pretty much be classified as jazz. Nothing you would hear on the radio however. So I see why StonesTod made that comment. I used to love Phish but have not really listened to them in a while. And they have written plenty of great songs, they just always throw in cover and play random set lists. I saw them do Purple Rain once.

And yes, Where The Boys Go suck, it does sound like something that would be on Shes the Boss.

Emotional Rescue is definietly a goofy song and although on the whole I like it, I can see how it polarizes fans. The fact is that it was a #3 hit single and for that reason alone, it is very odd that they never attempted it.

Jagger has proven he can still hit the high notes when he wants to, and I think they would bring the house down if they trotted it out.

I've never cared much for that line...rich rock star Mick Jagger telling this poor starving little Indian Girl that life keeps getting harder and harder. Sort of rubs me the wrong way, though I like the song for the humor factor.
