Sway in Berlin - nice story!

Want to share this true story with you. I was one of the first people running to the barrier on Ronnie's side in the fos-section just after the gates had opened when I noticed Chuck was on stage giving an interview to some TV station. I shouted to Chuck: "Chuck, give us SWAY tonight!" He looked at me, laughed, applauded in my direction and put his thumbs up. When he left the stage after the inteview he looked back to me again and I shouted again: "Don't forget - SWAY!" and again he smiled at me, greeted me and held his thumb up. When Mick introduced Sway during the show I couldn't believe it and I went nuts. This was too much for me.
So we all know that Chuck and Mick are doing the setlists on the day of the show. I wonder if the setlist was fixed after this "talk" or before. It was 4 p.m. I'll probably never know if it had any influence on the setlist that night or not...but sometimes you don't need to know the truth to make a grown man cry.

I met Chuck as the band arrived at their hotel in Beverly Hills after flying in from Las Vegas after their show there on March 4th. I asked if Sway could be played at their concert at the Forum in Inglewood on March 6th and he said to me "I'll consider that a reqeuest." Two nights later it was played at that concert. I don't know if I had any real impact on it appearing in the setlist, because I felt already that it was possible it could make it into that show, but it felt good regardless. He's the guy to go to try to get songs played.

Could you mention "Out Of Time" to your friends?

Could you mention "Out Of Time" to your friends? Great stories! Give yourselves credit and never let anyone tell you otherwise.

Any story that starts with "Sway in ...." can't be that bad.You see what they have reduced us to?We're reading stories about album tracks being played in concert.

Well how about asking him for Back to Zero! That would make him happy, since it is his only songwriting credit! Maybe they could invite the guys from Cameo to dance along with them on stage

How did it sound, by the way?

Yeah, good story.
But it would be an even better story if you were THE Ronnie, and this shouting was your way of communicating with the band!

It's the obscurity of the deep, dark sound, the low baselines, and the way the chorus comes in als conclusions to the verses... it's just that demon life's got me in its SWAY...

Great. One of the first albums I bought, and I didn't know what I heared coming up from the deepest and darkest holes of the earth, after the already much better known Brown Sugar.

"So we all know that Chuck and Mick are doing the setlists on the day of the show."

Great story; but how do you know they hadnt made the setlist before?

But bottom line is; never give up hope, speak to the men!

I like the bearded, ordinary kind of Atlanta man more & more.

No, that would have been a SAD story.
Great! Next time you see Chuck, would you consider mentioning that many people think Wild Horses is an absolutely wonderfull ballad... And that people in general are very happy with the set lists. (The few who are not, however, know how to communicate their discontent on this board. But people in general - they're very satisfied!)

BaboonBro, as I tried to say in my post I have no idea when the actual setlist was fixed (might as well be before that"communication") but sometimes it's better not to know the exact truth. But I'm probably right when I say that the only reason Sway was in the setlist that night was because Chuck suggested it to Mick - no matter if he did before or after this incident.

Many of us assume Chuck is the suggester for less common numbers.
Maybe we think in clichés, maybe there are some good portions
of truth in this notion. A low-odds'er may be that Jagger watched
himself and his voice for more wearing-out-voice-songs, like
I'd reckon Sway is.

And now we all wait for Monkey Man, right?!
