alright people... yesterday i've seen the first stones show in my life and i have to say that the stones blew me away, really. i'd like to share my impressions with you guys...
so here's the 21 song setlist:
Jumping Jack Flash
It's Only Rock'n Roll
Oh No Not You Again
Let's Spend The Night Together
Rain Fall Down
She's So Cold
Streets Of Love
As Tears Go By
Tumbling Dice
Night Time Is The Right Time
--- Introductions
This Place Is Empty (Keith)
Before They Make Me Run (Keith)
Miss You (to B-stage)
Rough Justice
Start Me Up
Honky Tonk Women (to main stage)
Sympathy For The Devil
Paint It Black
Brown Sugar
You Can't Always Get What You Want (encore)
Satisfaction (encore)
of course, JJF is the perfect opener for a great night, i suppose. i screamed as loud as i could and that's what i did during the whole show. IORR is still a life classic... love it very much.
the band was in a great mood... they were smiling all the time, jagger's german skills are pretty remarkable as well (he even used some sort of vienna slang words which was indeed very funny to hear...).
following the rocking ABB track ONNYA... nice one to finally activate every single person in the crowd. i absolutely loved LSTNT... when i heard the piano intro i totally freaked out and an awesome performance followed. the live RFD version was really nice with a short bass break of daryl jones (still i was a bit afraid when jagger announced the song because right before the show it really rained...).
my personal hightlight was definitely SSC. they never performed it in vienna (that's at least what jagger said). it's one of my favourite numbers and a live version is just the killer. awesome to hear that one. in my opinion, it's even better than MR (and MR is such a great live track...). well any stones fan deserves to get that one live...
SOL worked so well... especially the ladies loved it so much. still i've got to say that i was very pleased with this selection as well.
ATGB back again... in english. great sound. great acoustic song.
vienna seemed to like TD a lot (including me, of course). fine performance.
NTITRT... a ray charles tribute. fabulous interpretation and an amazing lisa fischer... god, her voice is just unbelievable. seriously another highlight for me...
the band introduction was very funny as usual.
alright. keith's turn... what a charming man.
i was more than happy about keith's decision to play TPIE. it's my personal keith favourite of all time and this one was the best version i've ever heard i think. various live version disappointed me a little. but this time he sang it pretty pretty well. such a sweet song...
his second song was BTMMR. good to also hear something faster from him as well. i guess he loves to play it and we loved to hear it...
during MY they moved to the b-stage as usual. the crowd sang along pretty loud and pretty well, too. i was happy enough to be so close to them when they played their b-stage set. what a great feeling. RJ still rocks.
SMU was so great. the mood during that song was just like... out of control. the crowd went nuts. me included. a loud singing-along followed... HTW seems to be THE track to sing along. unfortunately they moved back to the main stage... wish i could have seen them longer out there... so close to me, you know.
but what they did back on the main stage was everything but boring. SFTD performed by the devil himself... mick jagger. the stage was totally red... the fire... and everything... oh man, it was like hell on earth. what a fabulous hell.
keith's guitar intro of PIB surprised me. i didn't really expect it. extreme hand-clapping during that one. sensational live performance.
the intro chords of BS still are such a pleasure. after that song, jagger said "gute nacht... dankeschön".
but i knew that there was something left to do...
YCAGWYW was pretty much sung by the crowd. i found it very entertaining to watch jagger and richards laughing during ronnie's solo... they were standing there doing nothing and ronnie played and played. nice nice nice...
well and i think i don't have to comment the last song. the crowd got louder and louder... and it was probably the longest version of satisfaction that i've heard in my entire life...
well... after all... great memories.
i hope that the stones will stay just like that. they were in a great mood and played so well. 21 awesome tracks.
have fun guys...
