THE WHO TO LAUNCH FIRST MAJOR WORLD TOUR IN OVER 20 YEARS

North American Leg Kicks Off September 12th in Philadelphia Tickets On Sale July 17th NEW YORK, NY -- (July 13, 2006) - Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey, the dynamic, innovative force behind The Who, announced today that they will kick off their first world tour in over 20 years on September 12th at Philadelphia's Wachovia Center. The legendary rock band is already confirmed to play 17 dates at arenas and amphitheatres across the U.S. and Canada with more U.S. shows to follow in November and December. Planned concerts for 2007 include South America, Japan, Australia and Europe to be announced later. Anticipation for the tour is already running at an all-time high following the incredible critical and box-office response to the Who's European shows which opened in June. Fans and critics alike have hailed the show as being, "Just like the good ole days," with the same, unbridled power and emotion that exemplifies a Who show. The Who, famous for their powerful music and energy on stage, will perform songs from their new mini rock opera, Wire & Glass, material from their upcoming studio album along with their greatest hits and rarities, certain to please long time fans. The new album, provisionally called "Who 2," and the band's first since 1982's It's Hard, is scheduled for an October 23 release. "For the first time in 25 years we are returning to the USA with great live music - the entire catalogue of our old stuff - and new music. We have a great new video show, a new Mini-Opera and plans to do some special shows with special themes. Our European shows are warming us up, and we will be in great form when we start the tour in September," said Pete Townshend. "I don't think I've ever looked forward to a tour as much as this one. Roger and I are both fit and well, ready to rock." 'Pete and I are really excited to be returning to the US with some brand new music to play. We'll also be digging out some rarities that we've not played for a long time," said Roger Daltrey. "We're looking forward to reconnecting with our American fans and hopefully seeing some new ones coming along too." Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey reunited for the Live 8 concert in London's Hyde Park as well as the 9/11 Benefit concert at Madison Square Garden. They will be joined on stage for this tour by John 'Rabbit' Bundrick on keyboard, Pino Palladino on bass, Zak Starkey on drums and Simon Townshend on guitar and vocals. "The explosive on-stage energy from The Who makes for a truly electrifying show," said Steve Howard, executive vice president touring, CPI. "The Who is back like never before." Tickets for select cities will go on sale beginning Monday, July 17th and will be available at all usual outlets with more dates to be announced in the weeks to come. The official tour club presale begins Thursday, July 13 at 1pm and will run through Saturday, July 15 at 9pm. Hot Seat and other special VIP packages are also available from Thursday, July 13 at 1pm. For further information including Tour Club memberships and VIP packages visit www.thewhotour.com. Every ticket sold for the tour will include a free Virtual Ticket membership in The Who Tour club. Updated throughout the tour, tour club members will be given an exclusive insider's look at every aspect of the tour. From rehearsals and preparations to coverage via audio and videos streams, downloads, set lists and news and much more. Tickets will be priced at , , and in most U.S. markets with a limited number of golden circle seats also available. There will be an 8 ticket limit per person for the public sale and 4 for the presale. The Who World Tour is presented by Concert Productions International.

The codes were screwed up for some, and no one got great seats. This looks like the same group running the RS.com pre-sales.

You have been warned. This is another 5/10 code scam. No close floor available except the brokers now selling on EBAY.

SAVE YOUR MONEY!!!

There is no way that can be all the western U.S. dates. Only one show in Cali, no phoenix, vegas, denver, salt lake, or anywhere in Texas. Look at the gaps before and after the holywood bowl show. There has to be more dates.

On drums since 1996 will be Zak Starkey and on bass since July 2002 it is Pino Palladino.

These are only the initial dates for North America. It goes in 2 legs: Sept 12 through October 11th and November 5th through December 4th or 5th. The majority of the first leg shows were announced today, but only Los Angeles and Toronto for the second leg. Many more shows will be added.

In some cities they will be playing special shows, beyond the normal shows, where they may play Tommy or Quadrophenia in their entirety. Expect those to happen in New York and L.A. and possibly others.

The date of September 23rd is open, which has been the date The Who and Aerosmith are rumored to be opening for the Stones in Halifax, Canada, so that's a good sign that that show be a reality.

I guess us Canadian fans should be happy that Cohl is the promoter since there are alot of Canadian dates listed. Labatt Center in London is a pretty small venue, holding around 8-9000.

The very strong rumor in the Bay Area is a megashow in SF in November with this lineup of bands:

AC/DC
The Who
The Rolling Stones

This would be an amazing show. I would expect that to be on a weeekend, so that could happen on November 4th with the Who in L.A. the following day or maybe on Nov 11 or 12th.

I've always been a Who fan & around 1999 (when they started playing as a 'stripped down' band again, with the superb Zak Starkey on drums)- I really thought there was going to be a 're-birth' of the band, with new music etc. Then John Entwistle died. He (& indeed Keith Moon) were SO integral to what made the band, that what remains now just isn't 'The Who' anymore. OK- it may be a good show- but I wish they'd stopped 'dragging the corpse' of the band around now.

Starkey is a superb drummer- he adds something a little special, to both The Who and Oasis. Simon Townsend and Pino on bass are more than compitant
The Who are a great live band- one of the very best... go see them.

hmmm....I saw them a couple of weeks ago in Hyde Park.
I'll admit I didn't see them in 2000, but I saw them 3 times
with JE ('79, '81 & '96), and I certainly missed his playing.
Pino is just fine, but Entwhistle had one of the most distinctive
bass sounds going.

I would certainly recommend checking The Two this tour, though.
I had pretty much lost interest in them for various reasons, but
their Live 8 appearance made me sit up and take notice again.

I agree. Daltrey's voice was shot up until about 3 years ago. Those hypnosis sessions with Paul McKenna seemed to have worked.

Don`t miss it! Saw them tuesday in Berlin, frontrow. The best WHO for more then 20 years. Really! Zak Starkey plays fabolous, he fits perfectly. He is a fun to watch and listen, was announced twice and got the biggest applause. Palladino fits, too. I know, it sounds strange, but you won`t be disappointed. They get very good reviews in the papers. And man, they are LOUUUD! By the way: they announced, that every concert is recorded on film(dvd) and cd. You can order it via internet and the money goes to charity organisations.WOW! And now: waiting for the Stones...

There is almost a 100 percent certainty that Tho Who will open for the Stones in Phoenix on 7 Nov.

I saw them on tuesday in Bonn and they rocked like hell. Zak was fantastic, he gets as close to Moon as u can get i think. Pino played a solid bass but he should work a bit on his sound. JE always had a very bright, almost metallic sound which has always been a trademark of The Whos's band sound. Rogers voice was great and Pete must have been bowling a lot during the last weeks. Don't miss their shows!!!
