Back in 1983 the Who released an excellent mono video cassette entitled "Farewell Tour" which was a 2 hour broadcast of their 1982 Maple Leaf Gardens show in Toronto. It was brilliant, but sadly, to this day, they have never released it on DVD. However, some of the songs from the gig turned up as bonus live tracks (in stereo) at the end of the "It's Hard" album and sounded fantastic.

I actually bought a sngle CD boot of the gig a year or so back and that too, is in brilliant quality and obviously from a professional source.

It looks very much like this could be the full 2CD version, which if it is, will be the best live Who album ever, and in a totally different league than the pathetic and utterly avoidable Who's Last album.

I'm ordering it right now and will let you know what it's like when it arrives.

I really like the 81/82 period (obviously moon was sorely missed but stuff like Rockaplast rocks!) and I've heard there's great stuff out there. The Who can be as bad as Virgin/Stones for promotions though....
I've also pre-ordered the new single on Amazon.... should be here next week. I'll let you know what its like.....
The Wholive site is superb and a great way to view the band live at a tiny (free at the mo) cost. I don't want to compare with the Stones but the Who generally look after their fans.
Just hope they make Glasonbury next year and finish a great tour in style!

Townshend has authorized a bit torrent site for old Who and solo shows to be offered for download. At present you can download the 16-12-82 show from Toronto as a pro shot DVD - filmed the night before the tour closing concert that was televised.

I've always liked that Toronto TV broadcast - they do a killer version of 'Eminence Front' which they thankfully included on the "Its Hard" CD reissue. The "Whos Last" album is a waste of time as a 'souvenir' of that tour as theres no recent songs on it

I ts the full last show from Toronto in 1982. Was an import and now it is supposed to be out in USA. Bought a copy from ebay still waiting for it to arrive. BTW Petes site is awesome, easy to get around. His catalogue has been redone and will b available in US in Agust.

Wow, great site! Thanks for the tip, I had no idea that even existed. There's some very cool stuff on there. I read Pete's site faithfully and never saw it mentioned, which seems odd. I wonder why he isn't publicizing it? Do you remember how you happend to discover it?

I was at the 82 Maple Leaf Garden show. It was a helluva night-what I remember of it!

My skin has suddenly turned the colour of green.

Can`t find it.
