i lost all my respect for henry this world cup...

his putting his hands to his face when jostling with puyol (which "earned" france the free kick that led to their second goal) was pathetic...

the ocasional dive can be understood (not justified mind you) in the sense that the referee sometimes does not see what happened...but pretending to get elbowed in the face when no such thing happened or was even close to happening..i found that sick...

Give me Rugby anyday....That's a mans game!

Sit back watch the fireworks go off!!!

""terrorist son of whore", something subtle like that"

Well, that is or similar what lots of arabics / muslims hear on street every day in Europe.... and barely nobody gets punished for it.... why should footplayers be much more different than the average citizen....

Europe has become somehow much more racist the last 10 years - take fx. Le Pen in France, Danish Peoplesparty in Denmark - those partys are based on abusing and insulting foreigners / muslims....

If you want a change and stop it - then you need to stop it all the way from the top of the society included politicians and down to the regular people....

As long as people / politicians / parties gain from being bad towards foreigners / muslims then it will among all people included footpalyers....

not to be disagreeable but i find that most real change happens from the ground up... from the grass roots... often times saying things like "until the politicans change.." etc functions as an excuse of sorts... as a "well if they don't do it why should i"... but i think everyone who is a racist needs to stop... and from the ground up is not a bad way to go.. after all, presumably, the politicians should and do reflect the people..

anyways this topic is getting heavy..

Hey Stonefan, where did you find that? As much as I want it to be true, my Article 55 doesn't state that...

Article 55 Racism
1. Anyone who publicly disparages, discriminates against or denigrates
someone in a defamatory manner on account of race, colour, language,
religion or ethnic origin will be subject to match suspension
for at least fi ve matches at every level. The body will also pronounce
a ban on his entering the confi nes of any stadiums and a fi ne of at
least CHF 10,000. If the perpetrator is an offi cial, the fi ne will be at
least CHF 15,000.
2. Any spectator who commits such an infringement will be subject to a
stadium ban for two years.
3. If spectators display banners bearing racist slogans at a match, the
body will sanction the association or the club which these spectators
support with a fi ne of at least CHF 30,000 and force it to play its next
offi cial international match without spectators.

zidane just spoke and he is not telling what materazzi said.. he said it was very tough what was said to him, that he was sorry for what he did, but that he did not regret it..

and thats it

Zidane is gonna pay his reaction : certainly his title of Best Player of this FIFA 2006 cup will be cancelled.

Of course Italy keeps it cup.

But...
The great fight of FIFA is against racism and Materazzi must pay for what he said.
And I think it will be very hard for him.
More than a kick in the chest.

Not true, he said the thug insulted his sister and mother and repeated his insults two or three times.

Zidane confirmed the bad words against his mother and his sister

probably something like "son of a bitch" or "your sister is a whore" etc etc

Ok, now as an Italian I do expect apologies from all that have posted about our team being racist.
Zidane just spoke on tv and said that Materazzi said something like "your mom/sister is a bitch", nothing racist at all, just pure and simple fooball talk between defense and offense players.
I have been told things like that since I was a little kid, something very common in arguments and ZZ reacted like a 10 year old.
Now you can shut your mouths and get back to talk about the Stones in peace.
Case closed according to me.

Wrong.
ZZ had recognized that the insults concerned his mom and his sister but he didn't want to said the exact words on TV.
But he'll do in front of FIFA in the future.

And all the people still knows what Materazzi said exactly now with tht help of lips readers.
This guy is an insult to the sport.

Guess you are ruder than me, You've been badmouthing us for days, saying that we are bad sports, that we are cheaters, and on and on and on.
Guess you owe us an apology.

Stonefan, are you French?
Just wondering, because up to this minute you are trying to grip to every single issue in order to deny you lost the Cup.
I don't care about ZZ, what he's done last sunday, giving him a red card was the right thing to do, no matter what Materazzi has said to him.
We have also found out it was no racist shit so please, let's close this thread.
I remember Maluda saying he'd like to break Materazzi's head that's no sports person talk as well.
Why are we bad sports? Because we do basically rule football in Europe together with Spain? Sorry for you guys.

Stoned in dc, a good friend wants to move there, what's the best neighborhood to live in (cool restaurants, bars, places to hang out, NOT stuck up) What about PALERMO, PALERMO HOLLYWOOD, SAN TELMO, CLOSE TO THEATRE COLON, or RELAT...Close to the famous cemetery...what's your opinion?

Re: OT: Italien WM 2006 titel in danger
Posted by: stonefan ()

yes I am French and yes we lost the penalty kicks, did I say the contrary ?

what I say is that I don't like your spirit ! and I maintain that it's a shame whan you say that you just don't for what this lout said to Zidane.

so, there will always be the same people to provoke the others.

It seems that you need to do that to win and you are great experts for that.

"We have also found out it was no racist shit so please, let's close this thread."
No such thing has been said, sorry, you're making this up now.

"no matter what Materazzi has said to him. "
I think that's what you don't understand. There is no pride to have in resorting to insult people in what will hurt them most, to win a match. Football is about the skills with the ball. Anything else is mean-spirited and easy. It may work but can hardly make anyone pride or set an example as far as football skills go.

Re: OT: Italien WM 2006 titel in danger

We don't need insults to win, they can happen in a football game.
Materazzi has enough talent to score two goals against France.
I am sorry for Zidane, I am honest about this and I don't think what he has done should be seen as soething unforgivable, it can happen during a football game.
I'd just like to close this thread, is getting boring, you have your opinions, I have mine.
I am just relieved about finding out Materazzi's insults were not of racist concern, that's it.

I don't know what you rule, but everytime these teams have come to my attention this year, it was because of the polemics around their racist comments, calling balck people negers, making monkey imitations when black players hit the pitch etc....

"Materazzi's insults were not of racist concern, that's it."

Again, no such thing has been said. Racism has not been ruled out at all.
