OT: Italien WM 2006 titel in danger

If it's true that Materrazi insulted Zidane with racist words FIFA
will deny Italie the WM titel:

(to be honest I don't believe that FIFA has the balls at least!)

maybe it would go too far

We have lost the penalty kicks, we can't discuss that.

I don't know if things would've been different if Zizou had not been thrown out.

it's impossible to say

I just hope that this jerk will be punished if he insulted Zizou

Wow! That would be a heavy message against racism if FIFA really have the balls!!!!... But I suppose it would be quite a strong punishment for the whole Italy team - and it woouldn't make Zidane's idiotism undone or justified either. Result = no champion at all? Why not?

So, okay, let me get this: Totti spits in the face of some Danish player, gets kicked out of Euro 2004 and gets called a thug. Then De Rossi elbows some American player, is sent off, and is rightfully called the same name. But when Zidane does something much more heinous - entirely consistent with his prior history, by the way - the thug is Materazzi? If all it takes for Zidane to snap is a little trash talk (the latest is that Materazzi told him he'd rather be taking off his wife's shirt), he needs some help. And it truly incredible that many of you are willing to just assume, with no evidence, that his was a justified reaction. You see what you want to see I guess. But at least that pompous idiot is out of the game for good - and that's great news.

I guess things are different in my country - where trading insults of ALL kinds are considered part of the sport

What Materazzi has insulted Zizou is shure, but Italians are not racists.
In my town,Turin, Live 100.000 Nord Africans without trouble.
Zizou has lived in Turin without trouble.
Fantastic player, a little simpleton.

Zizou took the bait and got the gate. He knew what he was doing and paid the price. I say he is a little crazy, but the great ones are that way.

Zidane knows Le Penn from his ow town.... so Materazzi has probably just said something that Zidane hears everyday in Marseille area....

It's FIFA that decides not France so your remark is ridiculous !

Re: OT: Italien WM 2006 titel in danger

That's ridiculous and won't happen. Italy won and that's that! Materazzi should be suspended for five games IF he said something racist, and Zidane should have been suspended for ten games, had he not retired... end of the story.

By the way, I read that ZIdane's best player title is under threat, and, well, as much as I love the man, that makes a lot more sense to me.

Once again, let's not confuse responsabilities! Zidane is responsible, and all this is fair, although we forgive, and we feel sorry for him, and I'll miss him.

They also said that they're gonna strip Zizou off the best WC player title if they can prove he did wrong. That's what I read. Too bad. Zizou was the last #10

Well, I think in a long run this hassle will make Zidane even more legandary as he already is. For example, the end of Diego Maradona's career wasn't glorious either, but no one deny his status as one of the very best football players ever. And that 'God's hand' incidence only makes him more legendary (The English: no comments needed here). And George Best, he wasn't angel either... who cares about Paul McCarney when there is Keith Richards around...smiling smiley

agreed
He surely went off with a bigger bang.

Fifa won't take Italy's title but its good to question it.
Now Materazzi needs some offical spankin'

this lout has an incredible nerve when he says that he does not know what the word terrorist means !

in a way, he betrays himself by his insolence !

Yeah. If Materazzi actually said that, he should be stripped off his WC medal. I have no problem with Italy winning, so of course they should keep the trophy and all. But people who has done something like the thing Materazzi did (If he in fact called The Big Z a terrorist) he should simply be stripped off his medal and banned from football for a year or so.

Yes. But keep in mind that Materazzi already said that he regretted it, so he must've said something. I think Zizou is more beliveable compared to someone like Materazzi anyway.

No. Of course not.

Would you? I wouldn't.
