Not sure of the of the date of this performance, but according to the description "He only did one recording session, on the 5th of May 1961 in Philadelphia, for Pete Welding‘s label"

Alejandro Escovedo's 2009 live cover of "Sway". It's quite beautiful because he decided to play it like a slow country number. At times it sounds a bit like "Dead Flowers" and toward the end of the rendition we're in "Knocking On heaven's Door" territory.
Most ppl who cover "Sway" try to duplicate the original. That means big guitars and two scorching guiatr solos, just liek on the original. AJ is smart enough to haev a different approach to the song.

will see Eric once again; for the first time in a looonggg time next month outdoor open air show; sure the old little powerhouse will put out some groove; dunno 'bout his current touring players billed as 'animals' but probs be real fun intense summer gig evening outdoors...they were def in my top five during the Invasion band attack on our shores...i'd seen him in clubs now and again in late 80's & 90's here and there...real old fashioned old time road warrior.
did see him interviewed on a clip from UK tea time talk show; it's kind of sweet and great and also kind of alarming; my friend was making a joke yesterday about the shock of seeing this really old guy on facebook and realizing he gradutated high school with him hahahhaaaaaaaa
