got a Eldorado Cadillac
Wit's a spare tire on the back
I got the charge account at Goldblatt
But I ain't got you
I got a tavern and a package store
Don't matter where I go
You keep the ring in my nose
But I ain't got you
I got a tavern an'a package store
I hit the numbers, four-forty four
I got a mojo and don't you know?
I'm all dressed up, no place to go
I got a-women to the right of me
I got a-women to the left of me
I got a-women's all around me
But I ain't got you
I got a-women on the right of me
I got a-women to the left of me
I got a-women all around me
But I ain't got you
But I ain't got you
But I ain't got you
But I ain't got you

they were just colossal and wonderful, and nobody's ever mentioned them."

this one a super cool very early live tv Carol; Chuck Berry way of
Rlling Stones. It might have been the first time I ever heard this song.
Probably was...
most of us
are fmailiar with this Mike Douglas TV clip.
i had the personal gift of being around 12 or so
at this time; and perfect age to look at these rough raw beautiful
senuous dirty boys trying to be nice with mike; who was a super nice
guy and gracious host to everybody; a real decent soul; uber 'sqauare'
due to the cultural realities of the day; eisenhower years into kennedy then president kennedy was publically killed; it was a tense, well, 'aftermath' culurally, that went into hysteria and some social scientiest say some
sort of indirectly related massive manic release; but that's heavy;
and as a kid this was beautiful; filled with light; not a thing disturbing
about it for me or parents; it was just rough; it was more than their look;
tho their look was very much more casual stripped down than the standard
tailored stuff all the dam beetles and a new uk invasion pop band every single week for a longgass time; they knew where the Big money was...where the disosable income was; also fans, tv was new; ten years before 65 is an unmaginable world to those not really either familiar with it; or very connected to people who are.
sorry to go on; i'll stop; good cut; as a 12 year old watcing this i was fascinated; i felt a sense of loss as soon as they were gone from the appearance. theu were adults on TV to me; i was so young; ten years younger i guess...but i felt a kinship with them; somehow. can't explain.
they stood out....here they are just standing around and mike knows nothing
but is sweet; they are all on good behavior and really just going it with it; but not putting on an act at all; not press savvy, of caring tp protect from particular scrutiny; mroe innocent but a definite Pack; it's own charm.
sorry to go on and on,.

Robert Ward - Lord Have Mercy On Me

-----------------
Ward's trademark vibrato-soaked guitar sound was the direct result of acquiring a Magnatone amplifier at a Dayton music store. Lonnie Mack was so entranced by the watery sound of Ward's amp that he bought a Magnatone as well; both still utilize the same trademark sound to this day.Detroit producer Robert West signed the Untouchables to his LuPine logo in 1962. Ward's quirky touch was beautifully exhibited on the hard-bitten "I'm Tired," a chilling doo wop-tinged "Forgive Me Darling," and the exotic "Your Love Is Amazing" for LuPine. In addition, the Untouchables backed Wilson Pickett and the Falcons on their gospel-charged 1962 smash "I Found a Love."Ward left the Untouchables in 1965 (to be replaced by Leroy "Sugarfoot" Bonner), stopping at Don Davis's Groove City label long enough to cut a super Detroit soul pairing, "Fear No Evil" (the original version) and "My Love Is Strictly Reserved for You," circa 1966-67.During the early '70s, Ward worked as a session guitarist at Motown, playing behind the Temptations and the Undisputed Truth (he was an old pal of Joe Harris, lead singer of the latter group). But when his wife died in 1977, Ward hit the skids. He moved back to Georgia, and served a year in jail at one point (ironically, one of his prison mates was singer Major Lance, whose career was at similarly low ebb).In 1990, that auspicious encounter with Hussong started the ball rolling for Ward's return to action. Black Top boss Hammond Scott signed the guitarist and produced the amazing Fear No Evil and a credible 1993 follow-up, Rhythm of the People. The label then issued a third set, Black Bottom, that once again captured Ward's curiously mystical appeal. Living in tiny Dry Branch, GA, with his second wife Roberta, who contributed background vocals to his encore album, Ward resurfaced in 1997 with Twiggs County Soul Man, followed three years later by New Role Soul. ~ Bill Dahl, All Music Guide
