jigsaw puzzle.
one more time Bill 'makes' a track shimmer shine and beautifully
annotates this tale. so melodic, a lead instrument,
love this track. brian and keith on guitars are wonderful.
Brian is sure magical. just amazing stuff.

Concert For Bangladesh - George Harrison (Full Album)

arguanbly the best showing by an ex dam beetle.
two of em if you count mr. starkey
plus a truly wonderful cast of incredible and unique artist themselves.
as premier big rock band. this is george breaking out;
the soulful quality of the vocals and the passionate performance still ring true for me.
those fsmiliar with these performances and this material, here and on the
studio lp 'All Things Must Pass' (kinda especially sad considering his
early, tragic, courageous and painful passing).
a man of Grace when all
is said and done; tho as dirty as the rest of them in the mania-c daze.
the fulfillment of his promise, and a grace note on his excellence
and originality as a dam beetle i hate them

i was at the afternoon show. a lot of this is from that show,
tho there was an evening show the same evening.
considering the cast of characters but Especially considering
His Bobness absolute regal showing, please believe me when i say
that Stones '72 in nyc was the best rock and roll show i've ever experienced,
that (considering good fortune to be born in NYC where everybody
of real power played at least once. And also being a kid with
allowance that could go straight to 45 singles with Superman comic books
in the 60's, and having access to the old Village Voice, (and 16 Magazine,
cause one day i'd get there and wanted to be ready),
take a breath hoppy, then continue your run-on sentence

...uh, please believe me when i say that stones 72 birthday
show was the best rock and roll concert I'd ever been to
in my entire life, that our own beloved great-grandfathers boys had some stiff competition
for'best' and this would be one of those shows. a few The Who shows,
and an early Zep show when they opened for The Who, along with a
dozen other lucky fan experiences...Faces at Fillmore East. Jimi there
too at his last New Year's Eve...
this brings back a flood of memories. so does The Rolling Stones
somehow touring North America some FIFTY SEVEN years? since forming!?
could that possibly be correctomundo?

i saw them there in '75 also, without Taylor, Hopkins, Price
but with Billy and Ollie (clapton encored on SFTD)
It was Ron's 13th show w The Stones.

hey, don't you hate it when you go to a thread you dig just to
cruise thru some stuff your pals are diggin'? maybe try a few
fast 'clicks' to get on their less-deep-fan-than-you kinda vibe?
I sure do; but every now and again some joker thinks i'ts like
a fricken wall and he or she is mother-humpin' can of spray paint?
hey cool it Ed Moses, it's Shattered with an "H" not a "PL" ok?
jeesh.

guess i'll put on something else.
bored myself too. hate the beetles.
he's not the cute one or the smart one anyway.
and i hate the cute one. the smart one hated the cute one.
the quiet one was getting away with murdeur (hint: (bass player for another British rock band ssshhh ,
speaking of which, i wonder if perks ever nailed maria murdeur,
talkin' bout oasis baby, she wore a yellow flower in her hair.
Canary yellow.
Same canary yellow that suit of Bill's in 75 come to think of it.
and a smart suit it was. but it was yellow.
bill plays with irony and he plays with colors and textures.
if he had played with himself he could have saved a fortune in alimony.
that's what that depth charge tracking device company he created
is all about really. yes really.
it finds things that are hiding. in the ground. if you belive that,
send me a check too, and i'll mail you a stick. promise.
no that' snot where he found the suit.
smarasses here.
i'm this close to logging off.
or out.
anyway now i'm listening to silence because i'm confused.
it's noisy silence, kinda yellowy.
screw this, i'm putting on something else.
maybe 'something else' by eddie cochran.
don't even click on it.
forget i said anything.

Peppermint Twist (Part 1) - Joey Dee & The Starliters

One of my favorite rock and roll hits of all time.
A HUGE #1 single. the Peppermint Lounge was the epi-center
of ass shaking mother humpin' rock and roll in new york city
in the pre-dam beetle days.
it was huge in '61, and yes the flip side IS Peppermint Twist part 2,
also available on youtube. let's remember that mick's sonic inspiration
for BS was Freddie (Boom Boom) Cannon of Palisades Park and Talahassee Lassie
fame, the latter which gramps hisself has identified.
and sworn to on a stack of bibles.

Eddie Brigati, the wonderful frontman for the wonderful
The Rascals, formerly The Young Rascals (when they were less aged one assumes).
1961 was IT for me, i was ten, runaround sue was also a #1.
That did it. i never healed. i got the moral of the story from the guy who knew; i clearly did not. i spent decades believing otherwise.
but he was right. so if you don't wanna cry like i do...
That's rockin' Felix on organ there too.
The foundation of The Young Rascals right there.
David Brigati , Eddie's older brother, was a Starlighter and
brought Eddie to the session. His first time in the studio.
David would also add harmonies on Rascals recordings.
Rascals one of the biggest major 60's bands for me.
a lot o soul in those cats.
These are good players. actually the dam beetles went
there that first historic dam visit to nyc.
when they got a minute to go out and see the city that's
where the hot spot was; and they went; there are pix of Ringo
dancing. dam beetles.
...

Starz - Boys In Action
[www.youtube.com]

the heaviest band you never heard of.
only one good album out of 3. this from the First circa '76.
wipes the floor with a whole hell of a lot of the hard rock at the time.
nikki sixx said this band was motley crue before there was a motley crue.
which is sorta cool considering what huge ridiculousness hugely emanates
from the nikki or neil tho i got to give props to mick mars, a heavy hand
on that lad. i'd seen him Live promoting that first LP Too Fast For Love
at the Santa Monica Civic on a effing whacked out crazed New Years eve
that was glorious indeed. they pulled it off when they young and fresh...
and thumpin...

this is one heavy thumpin' band that infuenced a LOT of big bandsa not as good,
some say, including mois to a certain extent; def with certain tracks....
tho a lot of crap; i think Kiss was influenced by this crew too.
guitarist richie ranno was Very well Known and Respected as a Top Dog
in NYC and the tri state area..

from album 2
STARZ - Coliseum Rock - It's A Riot
[www.youtube.com]
---------
this shudda bin their unstoppable career making Hit.
but
was
not.
Starz - Cherry Baby
[www.youtube.com]

pop like Sweet; but the production is so ace w this band.
i think they were a 'push project' with the art design
and absolutely state of the art great hard rock production,
imo anyway....no it's not jimmy miller with the glims ; a whole
other generation of kids inspired by them however....
it's shit really most of it.
but a wonderful rock and roll asterisk; maybe a tragic one.
dunno what happened to them.
they had some big opening gigs for Kiss and the like and etc...
