God bless ya Tom.
young hungry Heartbreakers gettin' in on and closing the show by gettin' down with it a bit.
rock on tom petty rock on
band pile-drivin' tryin' for overdrive, gettin' there toward the end,
rhythm stomp w Ron Blair on bass b4 he was too drunk so they hired
the uber-gifted real rockin' Howie Epstein on bass, and Howie had
a young and tragic life-passing that was sad but Ron got off of the
bottle and cleaned up beautifully; but Stan dropped out and he was kinda
key in a lot of elemental ways....i guess Tom had some personal difficulties
that Stan didn't want to go public with but he left; this is pretty much
the original band; i like the bass and drums; it's hard to beat Ben on piano; cat's got soul and drive and excellent chops; Mike is very distinct in an atmospnheric original kinda way...but here he's just driving the rhythm mostly and i really love this basic stuff when it gets believable; and toward the end i think tom is really getting off and sharing it beautifully. he was such a good writer. at first i thought 'well another byrds rip off the nasal whine the rickenbacker 12; but tom was the real deal and i grew to really love and respectr all those guys.
