Memories of walking along the banks of the River Mersey in Liverpool several years ago after a day at the Maritime Museum, the Tate Gallery, and The Beatles Story... my head flooded with the Beatles, the Merseybeat, and this tune..."'Cause this land's the place I love, and here I'll stay..."
Takes me back to being ten years old - borrowing/stealing my older bro's Carney album and listening to this absorbing every word:
Leon Russell - Out In The Woods "People make me crazy I can hardly sing my song Hustlers stand around me,I'm lost and all alone Can't tell the bad from the good, I'm lost in the woods..."
And this: Leon Russell - Magic Mirror "To the thieves I am a bandit, the mothers think I'm a son To the preachers I'm a sinner, Lord I'm not the only one..."
And this: Leon Russell - Manhattan Island Serenade "Nowhere to run and not a guitar to play Mixed up inside and it's been raining all day Since you went away..."
And the rest of that great album...Leon was one of the best.
"If I Was a Dancer (Dance Pt. 2)" Sucking in the Seventies is the fourth official compilation album by The Rolling Stones, released in 1981. [m.youtube.com]
Bought Sucking in the Seventies on vinyl the day it was released, and also a 12" promotional vinyl single of If I Was A Dancer with an instrumental version as the b-side.
And then there's this nice groove...another credit for Ronnie...gotta turn it up!
