Nice outfit!

jagger's guitars are cosmetic in many ways. He chooses them, based on looks I feel. And the sound is generic. He could probably use any guitar in the world to do what he does. On stage. BOMH being an exception.
What we need next hopefully is thread on Bill's guitars/basses.

i remember finding it ... um ... *notable* when his guitar matched his dixie cup - that was on Steel Wheels/Urban Jungle, i think

Random comments to open the discussion here, LOL! I'm pretty sure WithSssoul will previde some pics from her huge archive...

Mick played a Strat both in 1975 and 1978. I'm trying to remember if he did play at all in 1976, I don't think so. In the 1981-1982 Tours he played a Gibson SG, but not the one that appears on Rockman's pic. If I'm not wrong the one (or at least any of them) he used live had a sort of vintage style bridge-plate, don't know if it's a Bigsby bridge.

On the 89-90 Tours he played a black guitar with a large, white pickguard, I don't know the manufacturer. The pickguard had the same shape as the one used for the older Fender Precision/Tele basses.

Then there is the black, white-dotted Strat he still uses, the Butterscotch Tele he used to play Don't Stop... These two can be seen on the pic our dear Sssoul has posted.

I've seen a pic from the 75 TOTA of Mick playing a metalfront Zemaitis, I suppose one of Ronnie's...

He had a tele with a yellow & black striped pickguard that he used on a few songs on the No Security tour. It may have been tuned into open G, possibly.

i will look around for a shot of that one, Bruno!
there was also the blue one that matched his dixie cup - i don't remember if that was a Strat or what.

meanwhile here's another nice-lookin guitar - and one of my favourite shots of the Voodoo Glimmer Twins.

Our bass player has a white one with the DiMarzio Humbuckers, it's not bad, but I always liked my '79 Gibson Les Paul Special better. P 90


Description from the 1981 and 1982 catalogues

The handbuilt Sunburst series guitar is available in two styles, "dot" and "crown". The body is Honduras mahogany, accented by one-piece curly maple overlay trimmed with ivoroid binding*. The neck is carved from the choice mahogany and stressed in three directions for maximum stability. The carbon- steel truss rod is fully adjustable allowing corrections for both warp and bow. The fingerboard is constructed of highly figured furniture quality rosewood and both "dot" and "crown" are cut from genuine mother of pearl. Twenty-two wide oval frets are used on a 24.75 inch scale. The unique solid brass bridge/sustain block combination offers individual string height and intonation adjustment . Electronics are exactly the same as the Hamer Standard. The control cavity is sandwiched by two shielding plates to filter out interference. Tuners are by Schaller. Output is via a studio quality jack anchored directly to the guitar body. The Sunburst series is finished in natural lacquers. Colors available are cherry sunburst, transparent cherry, blue, yellow and green. Black is also available.

* Some Sunbursts do have creme binding without any grain but the majoity have grained ivoroid.

not much of a connosieur (or a good speller of arcane french words) of Jagger's guitar work, but i loved his playing on the live versions of Don't Stop during the licks tour. (keith and ronnie were both excellent on that wonderful track, as well)

When I hear "Mick Jagger's guitar" I immediately think about that guitar. I couldn't find a pic right now though...
I'd like to know which guitar it was. He used it in 1990 too...
