plenty of lies on this tour from day one, Kent - $50 club shows, etc - right up to shows being 'postponed' which were never going to take place anyway - and which they continued to allow people to buy tickets for, therefore accumulating lots of interest in ticket sales....so yeah, taking money under false pretences is what I'd call it

and yes, I'm pissed. None of these cancellations affect me personally, but I'm pretty disgusted at the band's attitude to their fanbase in general

But then again "theyre old and theyve earned the right to @#$%& people over" it would appear to some folks, who would probably think they could no wrong even if they ritually sacrificed their first born...

We agree that it's plain shit to say that they can cheat because they're old. I just NEVER heard about the club shows. And I never heard of them scheduling shows that they knew was gonna be postponed (Which ones? I'd like to know).

The thing about the fanbase: I can see your point. But if I were them I wouldn't care either.

Cohl mentioned the ticket prices at the press conference at Juilliard and specifically stated $50 for theatre shows. That was the same day that rs.com started taking new memberships and it was an obvious ruse to get people to pay $100 for memberships. There was a specific mention of pre-sale ticket limits for theatre, arena and stadium shows on rs.com at the time. False pretences. There were also plenty of theatre shows provisionally listed and all but confirmed to take place on the initial US leg which were later changed to arena shows.

Maybe youve misunderstood what I said. They didnt schedule new dates but several of the shows that were announced as postponed to a later date (ie 2007) still had tickets on sale after the announcement on June 2nd. Additionally, before the actual announcement that the first 6 weeks of the tour was postponed, tickets were still being sold for concerts which it was common knowledge werent going to take place and were as good as postponed (and presumably now cancelled) yet rs.com wouldnt confirm it - case in point being Brussels, where you could still buy tickets up to a few days before the scheduled date of June 1st - even though the Stones had cancelled their hotel reservation WEEKS earlier.

Actually the Stones don't annoy me that much anymore - they do pretty much what we are used to, meaning treating us like shite.

What annoys me more is that some people just fail to recognise that they treat us like idiots. That always reminds me of those extremely religious people that live in their own world and have no idea of the real world anymore.

If the Stones were not offering a pretty unique product that is not easily substitutable, no one would ever buy from them again. Seriously, every sane person has to see that they have no interest whatsoever in satisfying their fans.

Well, yeah. You got a point. But I've always looked at The Stones as people who just play music. What they do besides that is not any of my concern. Like if Jagger makes a new movie: I couldn't care less. To me it's all about the CDs, the DVDs and the concerts. And that's always a gas, so I ain't complaining.




BTW: Gaz. You remember when we agreed on "Still A Fool" being the best they never released? Well, to me it's second best. I came to thinking about it, and "I Ain't Lying" from Hillside Blues (The great bootleg) is a tad better IMO.

Lorenz, I don´t know that, have no idea.

What I know was that around Sep. 20 should be the last date in Europe in 2006, and it is Horsens a few weeks earlier.

I hope there will be no tour in Canada fall 06, if the "planned" 2007 Europe tour is cancelled. It takes a lot to p#%s me off, but if that Canadian tour takes place, yes that's what they do. Good for the Canadians of course, but not good for us.

But it's official from www.ema.se that Gothenburg is cancelled. And from rs.com that Frankfurt is cancelled.

I have 5 tickets for Gothenburg, for me and four friends, and though they have paid their part, we'll loose $40 per ticket, and that is $200!

+ the planetickets and hotelrooms for 10th of June that we lost...

Lucky for me that I won two tickets for Bergen 1st of Sept. That makes me feel a little bit better.

Lorenz, I´m so pissed (from Coconut Day 1 up to now) and so tired
of all that shit the Stones are doing/ not doing, that I´m glad that
someone else points it out. Totally agree. What scares me is that so
many "older" fans are losing their touch.

The Belgian Ticket service hasn't heard anything about cancelling the postponed Brussels show for the moment(I contacted them). They say they've heard rumours just like we all do on fansites like this, but nothing has been made official. So Brussels is still on for the moment. Two weeks ago they sent an official e-mail that confirmed The concert in The summer of 2007. I really don"t think they know more than we do at the moment. And it's not because Gotheburg, FrankFurt and Brno are off now that the whole 2007 idea is off now. Maybe they will schedule other places. Don't forget that this is a big organisation and they will try to look for the shortest travel distances between the gigs for the different stages. Maybe it's too difficult to reach certain places when planned in a new schedule. I'dont know and I'm afraid too that Paris 28/7 will be the last time that I see my musical Grandparents after all(I know that some of you don't even have this chance, I'm sorry for that). But I think and I hope we will soon find out officially in the first part of July. When the tour is running again the website will be updated more often I think(because they always want to show what already happened). Wait and see.

Hey, everyone knows all that.
But nothing of that grants the Stones and their agents, reps etc. the right to lie to the fans in order to make more use of the Euros or $$. And this has been the case here, see Gazza's posts. Lie after lie after lie.

It'd have been ten times better if they had just announced from the beginning: these are the dates we're playing, there MIGHT be some rescheduling for the rest but it's not certain. All this "postponed", "no more shows in 2006" - which led to the 2007 tour fully logical conclusion is what has brought us here now. Their mistake, not their fans' mistake. They could have handled it a million times better. They should have.

And all the "they owe the fans nothing" - well, think again, because if it hadn't been for us they wouldn't be able to live the life they're leading now. I'm not saying they should obey our every rule, but the least they can do is show respect to people who pay (very good) money to see them.

different countries have different promoters and therefore different ways of operating. Thats especially an issue in Europe. However, once the band and their management decide to cancel/postpone a show (and the decision is their responsibility, no one else's) then that decision should be made public to the customer (ie, you, me and every other mug here) without delay to cause the minimum inconvenience possible. I think thats reasonable and the least one can expect. To NOT announce it and to leave hundreds of thousands of people in a state of limbo and confusion, relying on internet gossip, insider rumours and vague statements from local promoters and ticket agencies simply isnt good enough. Furthermore, not everyone has the access to message boards, promoters and the internet in general the way we have. Maybe its a blessing for them that theyre more clueless about all of this than we are.

All in all, simply not good enough

they sell music and merchandise.
If you buy a product, and it doesn't work, you are entitled to a refund, within a certain time frame. You expect and are entitled to customer-care, and good service.
You do not expect, broken promises, half-truth's and/or bare-faced lies, from the people you're buying the product from.
