And I must admit that from all guitars I have ever had -including vintage and custom shop models - the best sounding one is my Japanese Custom Telecaster with Seymour Duncan 55 Antiquity in the bridge and a '73 Wide Range humbucker in the neck. Second place goes to my R9 LP with Tim White PAF's, but I prefer Tele's in general.

yeah Chippy honey, that's Ronnie's gone-but-not-forgotten pearlfront Zemaitis
that vanished during the Barbarians tour ... here's another look at it:

- 1978 (don't know who took it, sorry!)

and in an all-star Barbarian line-up:

All have the boost circuit inside?

here's a page with some links to Zemaitis dealers: [www.zemaitis.net]
and here's a Japanese site with Zemaitis-licensed Greco guitars: [www.guitarjapan.com]
hope that helps some ...

Thanks! Does anybody knows how to add that boost circuit? The Zemaitis-Greco donĀ“t have it.

Sorry to bump up this (dead?) thread but curiosity got me :

"I must admit that from all guitars I have ever had -including vintage and custom shop models - the best sounding one is my Japanese Custom Telecaster"

Mathjis are you talking about the sunburst guitars made in the mid-80's as replicas of the hard-to-get US 60's models?

No, it's a Tele Custom, with a Wide Range Humbucker in the neck position -the keith Richards model. The Japanese '80's Custom Tele's are veru good indeed, but have too skinny necks for my taste.

Mathijs
ps there's a contender for the number one spot though...a very nice '63 ES-345...

And Gibson have a 2008 ES 355 limited edition (50th anniversary) reissue a la Keith (remove pickguard for authentic look) (Oh yeah, it sounds great and plays liek nothing else - I had to trade in my Tele to get it. Mixed emotions? Nope. Worth every penny!)

Is there a thread for the ES models he's using now?

yeah, sure:

...and here's the guitar index:

you could post some pics of your new ES-355 on the
IORRian's own guitars thread. I'd love to see it.

Cheers, thanks for the links. Haven't got a picture of my 355 yet and wouldn't know how to post it if I did, but here's a link to someone selling the same one I got (but not for that price!!) Geile Gitarre, nicht?

Wood's new Zemaitis

Check it out, Wood changed his original Disc Zemaitis for a new Japanese made Disc Zemaitis (I believe courtesy of Harold Colson):

That is a GREAT photo. Looks like it was taken from the stage itself.

Mathijs---what have you heard about these guitars?
Hard to imagine he would use them if they are crap.
And, man has Keith fallen in love with those Gibsons, or what?

Mathijs, my dear: a before/after comparison is better when the before-pic is shown, you lazy! LOL

After checking my archive the main differences (aparently) seem to be on the headstock engrave design and the control knobs, isn't it?

courtesty Sweet Virginia @ RO

it's under that moving light, next to his Twin...

Great photos, especially, sorry open-g, the first one.
When I had some closer looks to Ronnie, I must say that he looks much more better than he did some months ago.
He seems to be healthy again, after his alcohol-problems during the Europeen leg of the tour...nice to see this!

I don't think Keith uses ampegs.
For me it looks lioke Darryl's bass amps.
Keith is still using the Fender 57 tweed twins.
Interesting is the small amp in the right of the twin...
