Well you've allready highlighted the >>"just"<< a delay...
It's a great and warm delay, very special - but even if the delay is off, the TTE's all tube circuitry is still in the signal path.
so it adds richness and vibe, plus up to 15dB of boost to the signal before the amp.
you could also call it a tube preamp or line driver.
The delay fx can be used very subtle, so it might be on - on quite a lot of songs.

IMO Ronnie's sound has improved since last year, which may be the result of him joining the TTE club.
He bought one in November last year.

A friend of mine has this TTE thing, and, as open G suggests, he keeps it always on, giving a slight "space" effect + fattening up the sound. And I think that this is what happens with Keith as well. It truly is a great effect. Fulltone does some great pedals.

On the bad side, it costs a fortune!

Thanks a lot, both of you.
Yes, it really costs a lot.
It have to go on the extended wish list then, in case of a not very likely, but sudden rush of gold.

It indeed is only a delay, albeit probably the best ever delay in the world. It's an old fashion tape delay, but now made with modern materials. They cost $1000 a piece, and sound absolutely brilliant. You can use it to fatten up the sound. If you use it at around 10 ms it doubles the guitar. At 60 ms you get a rockabilly sound. I don't know on which songs he uses it.

In my opinion he doesn`t use it or it is barely audible....There is another thread about new Keiths, small Oahu amps ....I haven`t heard any difference in his sound from the beginning of ABB except it is worse now....where is this full, rich overdrive ( Rio Jumping Jack Flash for example.....) ? i think that he is forgetting how to use volume pot in his guitar and he`s got big problems with his fingers ( using open-G)At least his sound is great in PIB for sure.....

Telecaster_man:

when the cameraman started moving to the back of the of the amp, it was like seeing Sharon Stone unbuttoning her shirt ... unforunately we didn't see the nipples, but great vid all the same!

The fulltone was on, by the way!

How true, how true...

Btw, Looking at a Fender Twin-Amp on Fenders own pages (http://www.fender.com/products//search.php?partno=8140500000), the 12" speakers are displayed differently than Keith's. Keith has both on the same height whereas one speaker is higher than the other on the Fender 57' web pages. Are Keith's customized? Is it done to ease miking?

Also, did anybody got hold of larger scans of the German Voodoo Lounge equipment scans? Great if somebody could post'em smiling smiley On these scans, Keiths amps are called "Twin Reverbs". Are they reverbs or is it a misprint?

Best, RB

The narrow panel '55 to '57 Twin amps had one speaker placed lower on the baffle than the other, the big box Twin amps of '58 to '60 had the speakers alined. Both Keith's amps are big box amps.

No, Keith's amps read 'Fender Twin Amp' on the label. Fender didn't add reverb to their line of amps until 1963 (two years after Ampegby the way).

I don't know where to ask this question, so I try it here:
which amp should I buy, to sound similiar to Keith. I have a Fender Frontman 210R, and I do not sound like Keith at all. It should be a Practise-Amp, so it needn`t be loud.. (and not too expensive!! ;-)) Any ideas? Thanks for your help...

Have a look at what amps other IORRians have...

...and how would Keith sound if he played over your Frontman?
I bet he'd sound like Keith winking smiley
ok, maybe he wouldn't be to happy with it.

That's my photograph taken at Manchester on the forty licks tour.

That's Keith's favourite amp serial #0003

This is Pierre at his workstation and it's located right behind Charlies drum riser, not behind Keiths amps. The Champ is there for the tech's use only.

Yeah, I always thought that was real class...
..A tweed Champ just so the tech can tell the guitars are working ;^)

I take a Vibro Champ out when I'm tech'ing - i'm not that fussy.
