So, the b-side is the Four Licks - not very good one - version?

Anyway, I have heard "Biggest Mistake" few times on radio, and it sounds fine. Nice little song. Simple melody, catchy chorus with a trademark Keith back vox (very current now!), funny, well rhymed story... I think it will be a nice soundtrack for this summer and the European Tour.

The instrumental version does exist on the promo CD. I am just listening to it!
You can find it here: [www.mininova.org]

interesting that 3 cuts left off of Live Licks are finally making the grade...if I get these, I'll probably just graft them onto LL myself....

More live b-sides, a lot better than those silly remixes.

Good news although,I know for sure they recorded the Wiltern Theater show. The version of Hand Of Fate from that show is better than the Olympia version where there were major problems.I can't make sense of that desicision other than that nobody bothered to compare the two.

biggest mistake is well the biggest mistake on the album

Re: Biggest Mistake single

I think it would be a great idea to include a version of Biggest Mistake with the "oooo, ooooo, ooooo, oooo" chorus wiped off.

Do you like "Dead Flowers", "Sweet Virginia" or "Faraway Eyes"?

Better b-sides:

Night Time Is The Right Time
Mr. Pitiful
Get Up, Stand Up

That would make a nice EP.

I agree with Theif, I think Biggest Mistake is one of the lesser songs on the album. The difference with Dead Flowers, Sweet Virginia and Faraway Eyes (Meise) is that these three have very distinctive and great sounds and moods, and on top of that, these have great lyrics. I think Biggest mistake has a mediocre 'own' sound, no real mood, and just nice lyrics. Just nice, but it is not nearly in the same league as Far Away Eyes.

What I do like is Keith's backing vocals on the last verse: ...with some friends on the phone... ...and I drink on the couch...

It is okay. I mean: ABB is a great album, there are no songs I really do not like. But like I posted yesterday, it would be nice if they chose there singels with a bit more nerve. BM is, like SOL, just too much pop to make people really get into the Stones sound, I am afraid. I would have liked BOMH, and Laugh. Dangerous Beauty also. I liked the Rain Fall Down single, the fact that they choose the song. Well, I guess I just really like the album.

I like the instrumental version--you can really hear all the great guitar work. Mick's vocal is up to high on the regular version--if it was brought down a bit it would be vastly improved. Still don't care for the "clangy" tone on the snare. But these compaints are petty compared to the last few albums where the production was totally rediculous and there were way to many extra elements.

The song is growing on me--didn't care for it at first.

I really like the instrumental version, the acosutic guitars are very up front and it sounds great.

you're not honestly going to place Biggest Mistake in the same league as those three masterpieces, are you?

no publishing royalties, though as theyre covers - this is the Stones, after all

Why do you think they excluded 'Rooster' (a #1 single!) from 40 licks - as well as 'Harlem shuffle' (the only post 1970 lead single from an album that didnt make the cut, leaving Dirty Work as the only studio album not represented on the collection)

I love to see that not confimed Rough Justice live version too...
Perhaps they are making a version for the UK and another different version (the new one) for the European market.
Can anybody confirm this new set on songs???
Is the 7" single a picture or a coloured vinyl single???
Thanks in advance

have just received the Dutch release: the promo contains :

1. biggest mistake (radio edit)slightly different
2. album version
3. instrumental (great to listen to, though a little weird without Mick's voice)
4. rough justice

You can get a torrent of the promo version on mininova. I got the whole thing in an hour, 24MB and it sounds @#$%& great. I like the radio edit, much better than the album version.

It seems odd that the bonus live cuts are from the Licks tour and not the current tour. Why would they do that?

Because they were already in the can. They were likely already mixed and prepped for Live Licks but didn't make the cut. They do this beacuse it is easy (not that prepping a couple of tunes from the current tour would be hard).

It is easier to use these tracks in the same sense that it was easier not to proofread the liner notes for the Rarities CD.

What's so good about the radio edit?I haven't heard it but,by the way it looks,it must be the same exact thing with 35 seconds missing.
