So the bridge seems to have been changed back to the original one, as the 82 pic seems to feature the 6-saddle bridge instead the original 3-saddle, at least to my eyes.

I must admit you were my main hope about knowing something about this guitar, my dutch friend...

thanks for all the fascinating input, people!
as for the Mary Kaye, obviously i rely on what i can learn from you kind patient generous & learned experts,
but if it's the photo i posted that we're using as evidence ... [peering hard]
it's a great shot, but probably not the best basis for assessing the condition of the guitar's finish.
i'll see if i have any clearer photos of it in Ronnie's hands.

... okay, the best shot of that Mary Kaye is one i've posted real recently on the thread about Keith's Strats, but here's a larger version:

- the Phoenix, aug 10 2005 by Frank Micelotta (courtesy of Gypsy)

don't know how the telltale wear & tear compares with the one in Ron's hands 23 years earlier,
but i'll be fascinated to hear a continuation of the discussion.

If I remember correctly from the Hampton movie, the original three-saddle bridge has always been on the guitar.

I checked Wood's Telecaster: it is a 1950 Broadcaster. With sssoul with hopefully add some extra pics.

Thanks Mathijs. I thought '52 was a bit late for a Broadcaster. Look forward to seeing some piccies!

Well, maybe, maybe I have the answer.... check out page 59 of the Kamin/Karnbach "The Last Tour" book on the 1981 tour: I could be mistaken, but that headstock logo doesn't say "Fender", but it says "Tokai" !

if anyone was still wondering if that's really the same Mary Kaye Strat,
these two shots make it abuuuundantly clear ... thanks Mathijs!

These guys never stop amazing me... I wouldn't bet in my whole life about seeing a Stone playing a Tokai. From what I have read they are quite good guitars, despite the fame they had in their first years.

Could be,as Tokai is (today) owned by Fender - Tokai started in the late seventies making Fender-like guitars in high quality, and Fender ended up buying the company so they didn´t have to sue Tokai all the time and Tokai might have thought "If You Can´t Beat Them - Join Them" :-)

Does anyone here know something about the cream-colored Tele w/white pickguard that Ronnie played on the Urban Jungle tour and on the Vodoo Lounge Tour?

And what about that funny black guitar with white pickguard he used for Street Figting Man on Vodoo Lounge Tour?

Was he playing a Silvertone on the tour?

I may be able to shed some light on this... albeit a guess.

If you had an original 50s telecaster or broadcaster, would you want to route out half the body's wood to install some mechanics? Even if you were super rich, this would be cultural vandalism!

ESP make damn good tele copies but don't have the history - so why not route out half the wood?

See the following link for how to install a b bender including a photo of how much wood is routed out.

thanks - that's not quite what my question was driving at.
i realize gouging out a vintage Fender that way isn't something anyone would do, but there are new Fenders in the world too.
i seem to have the impression that Fenders are what the Parsons b-benders were/are normally installed in,
so where does Ronnie's preference for having them installed in (new) ESPs instead of (new) Fenders come from?
and: does he have any non-b-bender ESPs?

Justin are you referring to the "Sitar" that Ronnie was playing on SFM for the Lix tour?
That cream colored Tele looks like one of Keith's guitars.

I hate that 05 Phoenix shot of Keith. Manboobs...

On this clip from Japan 1990

,is Ronnie using a rare seen ESP Telecaster with no b-bender - two-tone sunburst, white bindings and pickguard, two singlecoils PU´s and maple fretboard? Best glimpse is at time 5:22

Justin I was referring to one of your previous posts where you were asking about a funny black guitar that he used on SFM. But now I realize you were talking about the VL tour. And I don't think he played that sitar-thing on VL yet.
