then of course there are his sunburst Strats ... on the fanclub DVD i think Ronnie says his main two are a 1955 and a 1954;
the cool site the gallant Erikjjf gave us a link to on the Gibson thread - [www.slideonron.com] - says they're '55 and '56.

i believe Ronnie's lap steel is a Fender Champion; the gallant Open-G posted this photo of an early '50s model a few months ago -
i gather it's the same or real close to the same as the one Ronnie uses. i do dearly love watching/hearing Ronnie play that thing. :E

May I intrude with non-Fenders on the Fender thread?

Which guitar is this?

or this plexi-glass-guitar, like Keith in 69/70?

and which Ronnie Wood is this guitar performing on?

then there are Ronnie's Fender Teles - how many does he use regularly?
and am i right that none of his Fender Teles are b-benders, but all of his ESP Teles are? and if that's right ... why?
(if you missed our thread on Ronnie's b-benders, here's a link: [www.iorr.org])

I wish I could take more part of this, with sssoul, but I don't have much knowledge of this. I lean back and let you, open-g, Reptile and Mathijs do the writing.

i just made some fresh for you, Reptile dear - help yourself. :E
that silver one that the ZZ Top guys gave to him - is that actually a Fender, or a Strat-alike made by someone else?
and does that model have a name, or was it a one-off?
anyway it's interesting Ronnie still uses it - Keith seems to have put his chrome-and-pink present away, for some reason. :E

Don't know. I guess it's not a Fender. Or maybe it was a Fender at some point. But it's a funny guitar, and cool, so I figured I'd post it anyway. He uses that whammy a lot. I love his little licks at the end of Satisfaction at the Superbowl show on that thing.

it is a custom guitar ,builded by some freaks in the us. it was a present by zztop to keith (silver tele with pink pickguard) and ronnie during the licks tour.mathjis mentioned the name of the brand some months ago. it is defintatly no fender, sorry forgot the name

For what it's worth:

If the rumor is correct, the Strat Dylan used
on the Letterman show in 1984 belonged to Wood.

That one shot is not the mary kay. See he is playing that same strat in a later day photo with the whammy bar on it. By the way keith bought the mary kay guitar players are weird man that way it's his baby. Just like when everybody said Joe Walsh gave jimmy page that 59 les paul. Page said in an interview that he bought it from walsh for 500 bucks in the early seventies. But what a joke check a price for a 59 paul it will set you back 100,000 grand and if it's pages it's probably a million that's his #2. Keith does'nt have the whammy on the mary kay either even thogh there easy to take off and on> But look in that later photo it look's like another gig not a stones gig keith would never let it loose for another gig at this point and it has the whammy on that one too.

thanks for the insight, Stonesfrk!
Reptile my dear, do you know what year/gig that shot you posted of this Strat is from?

I think it's from when he played with The Charlatans at Shepherds Bush, December 2004.

The Tele shown in the 82 pic isn't the same that the one on the pic from 98, both in Lil'Sssoul post upwards. The fist has the modern style bridge, most probably with 6 saddles, while the second features the original style 3-saddle bridge. (But it could be the same guitar with the bridge changed, of course).

The guitar that has always puzzled me from those owned by Ronnie is a Fender Strat he played on the 81 tour (and I think in 82 too) that features what seems to be a Floyd Rose-type bridge and a locking nut (I think you say it in english). Here it goes a pic, from a 81 gig at the Silverdome, Detroit, I hope WithSsoul can provide the credits:

I must admit that that kind of bridge reminds me of Eddie Van Halen, Steve Vai and Satriani and that kind of guys, so it has always amazed that our very own Woody has used one, as he has never been a whammy-bar-addict. Any info about this instrument???

The Bolin guitars [Ronnie's Strat and Keith's Tele type] used on Satisfaction on the Licks tour were gifts from Billy Gibbons. Another man with a huge inventory of both classic and oddball instruments.

The first picture is Keith's Mary Kaye Strat.

The second picture is his Faces' days strat, stolen in 1977.

The third picture (with Stewart) is an Epiphone Crestwood.

The fourth picture is a modern re-issue of the Ampeg Dan Armstrong. Wood uses it as replacement for his Zemaitis Disc guitar.

All the pictures of the Telecaster are the same: a totally original 1952 Fender Broadcaster. Wood used it al lot on the end of the 1981 tour.

Pictures four to eight from Reptile are all the same 1956 Strat. The white strat from Reptile is a moderen '57 reissue.

The last picture of the Floyd Rose equipped strat has always puzzled me: it is a very modern strat, but with an old-fashioned headstock. I really do not know the origins.

Mathijs, wasn't the Broadcaster last produced in late 1949 or early 1950? None were produced by 1952, that's as I recollect it anyway.

Sorry, Mathijs The first strat is not Keiths Mary Kay. Keiths mary kay does not have those dings on the front and you never touch up or refinish a VINTAGE Guitar! Because if you do you just ruined it! Keiths wear and tear is around the edges and a couple of dings on the top not on the face. There is also a few dings on the bottom and the ones on the face are above the bridge not below it.

You're right, I have to look up if Wood's Tle is a Broadcaster or a Nocaster.

It is Keith's Mary Kaye Strat. There's plenty of pictures of Wood with this Strat around, and the guitar matches up to Keith's Mary Kaye (fretboard wear etc). I will look up some better pictures of it, and you will see it too. Check the video of Seattle in the meantime, he playes the Strat in there and you'll see it is the same Strat.
