fabulous !! I just regret angie with BILLY is not on the album / so great Mick's voice and BILLY's organ and everything... all at the TOP as they OFTEN use to be.
I don't like sides 1,2,or 4.The El Mocambo tracks are the only ones that I've listened to in a while. You Gotta Move,Fingerprint File, and Hot Stuff aren't too bad.You Can't Always Get What You Want is alright but, there are better versions from '75/'76,not to mention '72/'73,out there. The same thing goes for the rest of the tracks now that I think of it.

Agreed, if you really wanted to get the vibe of those concerts you should get yourself a bootleg.
there is something disjointed about the album.........however......"the performances" on some songs especially are pretty great.........El Mocambo is super........Fingerprint File, Hot Stuff.......You cant Always Get what You want...the band intros are classic.........it's not Ya Ya's but then what is???????????
yeah, I mean obviousley boots are going to be better. But, when I bought love you live, I never heard of IORR. Bootlegs were just something that were in a different unviverse to me. I had no "connections", so I had to make do with what was available on official relase, and I thought Love you live was wonderful, wonderful music and atmosphere.
While I agree its not my fave, and I seldom listen to it anymore, LYL just has to have the best version of Happy on it anywhere, and I dont own a boot where @#$%& sounds better than on LYL.
This album has some good moments, but I fully believe that they should've waited two years and given us an official live document of the now-legendary 1978 mini-tour.
Alternatively, I would've loved to hear one of the extended Ronnie solos on YCACWYW from 75. The one they picked for LYL was a poor choice, IMHO.
It's their best recorded live album... the sound is really great! No other Stones live album comes close to this sound. Well, at least you should have a decent speakers of course.
IMHO,in the absence of any other official release, the best live document of their career..overdubbed?, yes, i believe all their live albums have been. I think the inclusion of the Black and Blue material makes it all the more stronger, and places it exactly into the long hot summer here in the UK in 76 It made for a wonderful series of shows, culminating in the hot but sloppy Knebworth. I suppose you had to be there!!
Gotta listen through it today. Haven't heard it for years. I didn't like this before, but now when I opened my eyes for late 70s Stones too, I might like it!
I cant stand it that people..dont like it!!!I had this LYL album before I had a bootleg..it is so good!!!Cant stand Stones fans atacking this great live album...on lp of course!!!
Love you live is in my oppinion a bad live album, I have had so many great moments during Stones concerts, but love you live is quite weak. Fingerprint file is good though, You got to move with the fantastic Billy Preston really rocks, the EL Mocambo side is joyful, but the versions of the war horses (JJF for example) are horrible, Get off my cloud is performed terrible. Luckily they performed much, much better later on in their carreer.
I agree with Rooster on side 4 of the album. Of course El Mocambo is the best part....but there's a very wild feeling over side 4. Ronnies' eclectic solos, and Jagger's growls....it's very cool.
IMHO, LYL pi***es all over Get yer Ya-Yas Out, better songs, better sound, and the versions on LYL are all better than the versions on GYYYO, except for SFTD.
You're a rag trade girl, You're the queen of porn, You're the easiest lay on the white house lawn!!
Folks say they dont like LYL...and than they say...oh I love Side three and I loveSFTD..and I really like Fingerprint....and Hot Stuff is so good!!And you gotta move is a Billy Preston Highlight...on.and on..and still they say they dont like it!!!!!annd than they say what they do like wich is almost the whole album!!!!!Cheers Erik!!
I believe Love You Live is possibly the worst album the Stones could have released from possibly their greatest era of live performance. The early seventies Taylor era will always hold a special place in my heart and the 78 tour (or at least the best of it) is far far superior to most of what's on offer on Love You Live. For me though it's still infinitely preferable to what has come since.
Not true Edward!!!Side three is the best of the best and I like the rocking rst too!!It sure aint a bad livealbum ..no way!!!Live licks...is not so good.
I know some people don't like it, but for me, Love You Live is one of the last GREAT album covers...together with Some Girls. I love those colours, I should have had a poster. Actually every album later was not good...apart for Still Life, and Voodoo Lounge. Still Life is also hated by many...but it's such nice colours for some reason, I think.
