the sad truth is, if Ronnie or even Keef (not that he'd ever admit having a problem!) ever want to QUIT the booze they'd have to give up the rock n roll
the whole touring lifestyle doesn't allow for time to 'quit'
Ronnie could give up the band and concentrate on painting, for the god of his own health. Keef however hasn't really got much outside of the band
its definitely time to call it quits after this tour otherwise we'll have another premature ending to mourn
Jed C. makes a good point. When you don't have to worry about finances, the world looks so different in every sense. So it is ina way harder for him to hit bottom. Because when you have lost everyhting material in life it shakes you up pretty bad and you take a hard look at yourself.

For people like Ron & Keith booze is the easy stuff. That might be the crucial part; it was the way out off harder & heavier stuff. I'm not sure its harder all the time, the addiction: but soon he's at that very point where doc's say: Quit totally, or die. Maybe he is past that point long ago.
If Ron is "bored" with touring and If Taylor is cool with playing again Is there any reason why a switch could be anything LESS than amicable? Would this create any problems???

Money for some people is quite easy to burn..... you can be a multimillionaire / earn millions and still in a short time burn the money and therefore continously being in the need of more money....
Just look at fx. Michael Jackson / Mike Tyson - just to metion a few..... they have earned millions of dollars, but are still in deep shit financially....

Surely Ronnie, or more likely his wife, has been smart enough to put a few million away somewhere where they don't have easy access to it to ensure that they'll never go completely broke. If not, I suppose he could always live in Rod Stewart's guest house or something.

The doctor did said that to him..a three years ago...you are right Baboon..and maybe its more than only alcohol..wich he grew up on.
I'm glad his wife got counseling. I've been sober for almost 26 years (Thank God) I quit when I was 17.I'm sure RW & his wife know where he can go on a "Day at a time" basis.BUT, IT CAN BE DONE!!!!!! if he wants it, if not, then I'm sorry to say that he will have to get worse before he gets better. Maybe he can talk to Clapton or go to Eric's rehab. He may nit "trust" a guy like me because we are "fans" or "starstruck" or whatever, but he can trust Clapton.I mean, I would give it to him straight, but he may not be as willing to listen.Either way, my prayers go out to RW,his family,& KEEF! PEACE

Ron Wood, RIP. What if he croaks on tour? Who will they get to replace him? Mick Taylor. The whole Stones thing seems so desperate these days and they really are well past their expiry date. This is why there are no old rockers.

Let's just hope he is recovering- and that the other guys support him in trying to keep off the sauce. Actually - it will probably be easier this time around - since Keith has had to cut down on his drinking. It's down to two beers a day because of the medicines he has to take after the "blood clot incident" (blood-thinning). If you drink alcohol after such surgery, the danger of uncontrolled bleeding is a serious danger, because it doubles - or more - the effect of the blood-thinning... So let's hope they support eachother - drink a lot of cranberry juice (great for the liver and the kidneys) and smoke some weed in stead. But then, with emphysema - one shouldn't smoke either. So I think I'll just prescribe : Ronnie - Jo: Just get high on great sex on this tour. The other euphoric drugs/sauces are not available now. Sex does the same thing for you. Euphoria - adrenalin, endorphins. Good luck and enjoy!
