If there is a European tour in 2007, what is going to happen?
Posted by: hi1 ()

What is gonna happen if the Stones tour during the summer in 2007? Will they stop touring right after this summer or will they continue touring in the USA and then what? Seems that they will have a long break between the fall and summer next year. Is it realistic?

Probably touring the U.S. And probably touring the U.S. after the European leg next year.
The Rolling Stones is an American based band, you see. Three of the four members just happen to live outside the U.S.

They will do some shows in the US and then they will go to Fiji for holiday to get some coconuts and the European tour will be postponed until 2008. So they'll have a chance to do some more shows in the America.

they'll play the U.S. probably about 30 or 40 , intimate arena shows, then they'll promise a provincial UK/European tour, which they will lie about, cancel, and replace with half a dozen stadium shows.
THey'll then, get knackered, cancel the last 5-6 of them, have a break, and head back to the States, for another 30-40 Arena dates.

They'll play the US for sure and perhaps South America too (second round). In the summer of 2007, they'll play to one more million of people in Europe (approximately 20 stadium shows).

US tour late sept/early october '06 - nov' 06

Asian shows (india etc) late November, finishing the year in Hawaii

European tour early summer - at present it stands at 10-11 shows. I'd expect it to be expanded to about 20, to take in markets where they CAN sell stadium shows 2 years in a row (or in this case, sell them better with no World Cup as competition!)

I'd like to think that in the early part of 2007, they'd go back to South America as that fanbase certainly got screwed over for shows in 2006, but I wouldnt bank on it. They'll probably think of another excuse to flog to death the American market for the 37th time this tour instead.

Sometimes I think that they won't do a single show in 2007 at all. They are just saying that to keep the fans happy for the time being.
Of course I hope I'm wrong

Could I ask where the talk of Euro shows in 2007 originated?
I'm not sure where this came from, was it the Barcelona re-sched announcement???
Apologies for not being on the ball.

Only promotors and for example Stade de France mention 2007. Whether this is any reason to believe they will actually come back: I don't know. But personally I think they will if they can. (An implosion like this is not the Big Bang they would probably like to leave behind at the end of the tour.)

A very good reason for ticketbureaus and promotors to mention 2007 before it is really confirmed by the Stones, is that they dont want to go through the hassle of refunding now, and restarting a sale coming december. They will hold on to the story of postponement, until the Stones actually say 2007 is 100% sure NOT going to happen.

I would bet on 25-30 Stadium shows with lower prices in every market from June to September with a momentum at Wembley . Which will attract 1.5 Million audience.

Well, I can predict a Wembley opening in 2007 (if the stadium is ready...)

The Stones deserve to open Wembley!!

Who the **** is Bon Jovi anyway..?

they have so much in common. Two great old English ruins dating from the 1920's (!!) with a history and tradition second to none, inspiring a great mix of national pride and often bewilderment - and a great source of inspiration to aspiring kids around the worldwide who get misty-eyed and star-struck by the sheer mention of their names. Both have gone through various periods of being written off and attempts at restoration to their former glories - which while prone to delays and postponements and a cost to the tax payer far in excess of what is generally acceptable, will almost certainly be worth it all in the end

Has the British tax rule changed since the famous 1998 postponement due to fiscal issue ?

In other words, won't the boys face high taxation if they tour UK again in 2007 ?

tax rules change all the time. The problem with the 1998 change was that it was done retrospectively and they didnt get advance notice . Its not an issue.

how about the europeans stop complaining about the stones touring the us
its just a fact that the us have way better venues (there are no arenas in europe except the cologne arena and 1 in prague i think and maybe paris bercy) so how do you think the stones should arena tour europe?
its not possible so be glad to have some stadium shows
the stones are made for stadiums so there is no real reason to complain about
and the stones are european but they are an american brand so shut up

The idea of a 2007 tour comes from their official press release which stated that all except two of the shows originally scheduled for Europe in '06 that aren't happening this summer are postponed and not cancelled. The release also stated that the shows on the new tour schedule would be all there will be for the summer of '06.So,that leaves the fall of '06 and 2007 as possibilities for the postponed concerts. The rumored booking of venues in the U.S. for this upcoming fall leaves us with 2007 for the re-scheduled shows.

After Horsens show They probably store the stadium stage in Sweden. Then go over
to US september-october to do an indoor arena show with the superbowl stage.
November-decemer India, thailand and other asian dates.Perhaps some European indoor arena dates spring 2007.And early summer 07 a stadium tour with the postponed dates and some more will begin in Gothenburg.
Just a theory, probably there are no stones after new year.
