Dimeadozen went down last night for upkeep but before they went offline I managed to snag DAC's release of the March 22nd show at the Tokyo Dome (first one). Is anyone else amazed by this thing? Its apparently sourced from Jagger's in-ear monitor feed and sounds flippin fantastic to me. If it really is from what would essentially be called an ALD feed then this is hands down the best ALD recording I've ever heard in my life.
My only gripe would be that Jagger's vox are a bit loud overall (then again, it's Jagger's monitor) and that Daryl Jones is MIA on almost the entire recording. Otherwise a fine addition to anyone's Bigga Bang catalogue!
I must admit I didn't miss Darryl when I heard the boot.
Tumbling Dice and IORR sound amazingly fresh WITHOUT backing vocalists (I got to the point that I hear the opening bars of Tumbling Dice and I cringe only when I think about those "Ooooh, ooooh, ooooh" by Lisa).
Guitars sound just fine n dandy for the most part, especially the Ronster. Keith is slightly lower in the mix sometimes, but he is never "unheard". I really do miss Jones. He has to be the most underrated bassist in history. Him and Charlie share the same style and I love it.
BTW, ONNYA is one of the best versions I've heard on this tour of any boot. Keith is lower than Ronnie in the mix and I LOVE IT. Ronnie is usually missing on the HOUSE PA so its great to hear him for once. Screw everyone who hates on him, I love Ronnie's playing.
Drake, with the good audience versions of this show available, I bet you could make an fine matrix. Of course, it IS nice to hear the just the core band...if it just had some bass..

If someone were to pass an audience recording of this show (or multiple) I'll be glad to make a matrix of it. I've been messing with a 5.1 surround sound version of the Hollywood Bowl shows but the ALD source for that is piss poor compared to this.
(watch your back T&A... no Keef bashing... the Keefster is my hero... infact, if I were you I wouldnt open any suspicious brown packages anytime soon... =)
Therein lies your problem. Go to mozilla.org and get FIREFOX!! It takes up almost NO space on your harddrive, runs incredibly fast, etc... Blocks popups/etc automatically. No need for extra blocking software.
Last fm usually loads just fine. I'm curious why it would crash at all.
I was disappointed in this one. Keith is too low in the mix and virtually no bass. Also, the BG vocals are missing...which ain't necessarily a bad thing for the most part...but Let's Spend The Night Together just sounds weird without 'em.
Drake, I seem to recall downloading an AUD recording of this show a few weeks back. I will check the home puter and see if I still have it. As I recall, it was decent. I will gladly forward it to you if it's still around.

I hope my regular brown paper bag contents haven't been disturbed...or I'll not be able to drink/enjoy my lunch as is my custom....
BTW, Keith may be a bit low in the mix but its still a nice recording. Definately refreshing to hear Ronnie for a change. I honestly wish I could take an axe to the guys running house sound at most every Stones concert I've ever attended. Ronnie is almost inaudible at most every show. The Ronster's playing on this show is pretty darn good (except for a bit of Sway unfortunately). Brown Sugar cooks.
You'll have to come down to the studio to lay down those tracks. Feel like making the pilgrimage to Louisville, KY?
I'd love to work on a matrix of this show seeing how fantastic the ALD is. I'm sure I could bringout a proper bass sound from any decent audience recording where the taper didnt use a damn bass rolloff. Thats one of my biggest pet peves...
