i just have to say it: mick taylor was the man..

shame on the stones for trying to make it seem like he never existed..

the least the stones could do is help out an old comrade in arms, while giving concertgoers a thrill, by having him guest on a couple of shows....were that their egos were not as insecure as they are!

but they won't..la de da

still i look forward to seeing him tour the US soon....

i have yet to see the legend live... the man the myth ..king of the vibrato

i played brussels 73 for a friend who had not heard any live mick taylor.. he went catatonic....

He chickened out in 03 and would probably do so again.

Taylor would never be allowed on stage - imagine the increase in guitar quality ??? smiling smiley)
That would not suit the Stones of latter-day Tours !

So if Bill Wyman says things like this he's a pathetic peice of crap that shouldn't have left the band if he wanted to play, and when Taylor says it, it's the Stones' fault?!

How did Pete Seeger get involved in this?

a competition? more like a slaughter!

The only competition Mick Taylor could win would be a hot dog eating contest!

Steven - Get your FACTS straight!! Taylor didn't "chicken out" in 03
he was THERE, backstage ready to play, "something" happened with the "current"
Stones and he wasn't "invited" to come out to the stage!!!

Yeah Baboon - All these LOSERS can comment on is Taylor's weight, and that
other comment on Keith having a problem with Taylor, wrong!!

Keith is the only one who has played with Taylor recently! late 80's in NY
he had Taylor record with him on his solo release, Keith is the only one
who stated: We're still MATES...

And Taylor has said he talk's to Jagger regularly just to socialize...

So who knows????? Maybe one of these nights!!!!

Ronnie played with Taylor, at his Miami club in the late 80s.
Taylor is also featured on some of Bill's Rhythm Kings albums.

Erik - I didn't hear that Ronnie actually PLAYED with Taylor in his club?

I read where Taylor said he: played AT Ronnie's club.

Who did you see quoted?? Taylor or Ronnie?

Bill has been trying to get Taylor to join the Ryhthm Kings for years now...

I can't remember where I read it, but as I remember it Taylor was playing a gig at Woody's On The Beach (in 1988 or so) and Ronnie and Bobby Keys joined him on stage for a few numbers.

I seem to recall he blew off the rehearsal and was perhaps not in the best condition which is why he did get to play. Not very professional if true.

For their final tour in 2012, the Stones should invite Taylor and Wyman to rejoin for one last hurrah! It would mark the 50th anniversary of the Stones!

haha - old men can dream right?

Is Ron Wood ever in a fit state...to play anything?

Steven - That was the Stones "official" line of Bull as to why Taylor didn't
actually get to play. He was there, he was ready, but for some reason the
"plug was pulled" - Taylor fans who were there said Ronnie screwed up on the
1st couple of numbers, Jagger and him had words, the Blues number that Taylor
was suppose to come out and play on was scratched off the playlist by Jagger,
he actuallly went over to the board and erased it!! Taylor left after the show
and signed a few autograph's on the way out. Taylor would have played if
allowed!!!

There never was any "official" line from the Stones as to what happened. However the stage set list did have "Rock Me Baby" listed so the Stones certainly had intentions of playing with him.

Glam - Do some better research, the Stones were asked why Taylor didn't
play that night and their "Mouthpiece" whoever that was at the time give that
lame excuse: he didn't show up for the soundcheck...

He was only suppose to "jam" on: Rock me Baby (one song)
It was not like he was sitting-in on the whole show!!

I think Jagger still didn't want him on stage and made sure it didn't happen.

"I think Jagger still didn't want him on stage and made sure it didn't happen"

That's your fact? Sounds like opinion to me. Seems to me if they didn't want him on stage they would not have invited him in the first place and that he probably defaulted.

The fact is neither of us know for sure and people can judge for themselves which is the more likely scenario.

I dare go back to point of the thread. These words are not bitter, quite the opposite. If neither he nor they seem to be willing to fight about the past, why would we?

When i met Taylor last year, he seemed happy, making jokes, getting me beer etc. We talked about the making of GHS. The year before, 2004, when I met him, he was quite the opposite. So now is a good time to get him on the same stage smiling smiley
