i've heard a lot of crap witten about "goat's head soup" and it really pisses me off.

if i could ever write one song that was as good as anything off that album, i would consider myself a success, and be pretty damn proud, i can tell you.

I think the biggest problem with Goat's Head Soup is its timing. It comes right after what many call the "Golden Age" -- and it doesn't really compare with the albums that preceded it. But it's damn good anyway.

I think Goats Head Soup is actually the most overrated Stones album. Steel Wheels would be my choice. Some great songs on there.

goat's head soup is certainly the most underrated
emotional rescue and black and blue aren't so bad as they're often descripted

BUT : IN 1972, IT WAS EXILE ON MAIN STREET THE MOST UNDERRATED STONES' ALBUM !

Brussels, ? , Stade Roi Baudouin

all of them are underrated by too much people. And it's so stupid. A stone don't release a bad album. (except mick taylor if I remember well his solo records.)

Looking at this thread is indicating to me that GHS is actually the most OVERRATED Stones album. It's Goats Head Poop, people . . .

As for the most underrated? Clearly Emotional Rescue (an excellent album) and Steel Wheels (not great, but pretty damn good!)

Who decides what is even underrated in the first place? I mean is there an official poll posted somewhere that I don't know about? As for GHS - I agree with bongboy - seems to be that its' rated very highly by a lot of people, so I wouldn't think calling it underrated makes a whole lotta sense.

your point is?

well guys, i don't think we all knew each other would think GHS was under-rated... but it does seem to be the personal opinion of a few peeps. so that's good. when you think you're alone in thinking it's not as bad as others say - then you realize that the "others" actually dig it as much as you do. cool.

you learn something new every day!

Undercover

Goat's Head Soup, IORR, Black & Blue and Emotional Rescue.

Post '83 albums cannot be underrated enough. Except maybe ABB.

Underrated, I don't know, but overeating is discussed on Undercover.

Dirty Work for sure! but in a larger sense
they are all underrated.

when we set out on our journeys and when we return home,
in the evenings and in the mornings,
we shall think of them.

Keith, be well - all the way, baby, all the way

I have to go with Goats Head Soup. I had it for years and didn't really care much for it, then I gave it a real listen and now it's one of my most repeated spins today. Winter and Coming Down Agan make it worth the money. Really a gem of an album.
