Others will disagree, but I believe the New Orleans 78 show was the best of the opening acts ever for a Stones concert. Van Halen was brand new and hit bound. The Doobie Brothers were on an incredible roll and red hot.

you have your '73 Ali/Norton fights mixed up, Leonard. They first fought early in the year (March I think) in San Diego and Norton, who was relatively unknown won a split decision, breaking Ali's jaw early on. Ali won the rematch at the Inglewood Forum about 6 months later with a close decision.
The 3rd fight (which was the only one which was a world title fight) was at Yankee Stadium in Sept. 1976. Ali winning a close and controversial decision.
Ali was possibly the closest thing to a hero for me when I was a kid. Met him in NY about 13 years ago which was one of the highlights of my entire life

ok, I'll disagree. Aside from "Panama," I can't stand either of those bands.

Dazed and Confused is such a great film for depicting exactly how the mid seventies were! I love it! It takes me right back to those golden days! I only recently saw this film for the first time. It was a great feeling to be taken back to that frame of mind that we were all in at that time. If you have not seen it yet, rent it. It is worth a watch. Great sound track too! Fred Hardin Pleased to meet you........
