Stones on (harlem) Shuffle
Date: May 10, 2006 00:55
I'm an imposter of the imposter - taking a page out of the good poster's book. Stones on shuffle - 5 songs in a row (I'm keeping it to only official releases). Let it rock!
1. HANG FIRE. A neglected classic - great, throwaway lyrics, fantastic drum tone, and superlative backup vox. The last verse is great too "put it all on a hundred to one . . ." The stadiums of Europe would be on (hang) fire indeed if this gem were to make a comeback.
2. SHE SAID YEAH. The best thing that can be said about this song is that it's only 1:35 in length. Nikkibong certainly doesn't say yeah . . .
3. LOVING CUP. Ahhh, now we're talking. This is top 20 Stones right here. Fantastic piano and drums. Great tension build up before the first chorus. Love the lyrics except for the one cringeworthy "spill the beans" line. Just too gastronomic for a love song. Anyone catch this on the Licks tour? Thoughts? I'd fall down drunk if I could hear it live.
4. HAD IT WITH YOU. Second best track on Dirty Work (I realize that's not saying much) Nice guitar work on this one. Just make sure to turn off the stereo before Sleep Tonight comes on!
5. MOTHER'S LITTLE HELPER. A classic. Need I say more?
No need to respond to this thread, friends. Just needed to delay this paper-writing a bit, and I think you for your assistance in that respect!
