I have the feeling Björnulf that quite a lot of people travel for the Stones. Even I did not realize it until I was in the US. So Money is a good point for all of us and I am really sorry to say. People always say that Mick is the money collector. But being in the US for shows and seeing acting Keith and also looking at interviews I would say: Mick at least tells the truth, But Keith is the one who's interested in the daily bucks. The reason why I came up with Keith not doing this before any US shows would be simply liability. They would never be able to afford. Simply as that. You can cancel a show because you don't have a voice or a serious accident during the rehearsal or travelling, but NEVER falling of a palm tree. Sorry I met my wife in tonga she's Swiss, we lived down in the south Pacific for more than a year, but I never would have taken the idea to climb a palm tree. You must be joking??? or was it a jet ski after all....?

not by me it wasnt. That excuse was bullshit - as most of the crew who they claimed would be affected were Americans who werent subject to UK tax laws - as was their "promise" to play 10-12 theatre shows around the UK to compensate for it.

i'm trying denial now . . . they said it'll start in June so of course that means Brusells and Paris are still on!

"not just a river in Egypt" indeed.

WHat do you guys expect from bjornulf. He's not a doctor, and he's not Keith's doctor. Every operation involving the brain is different, and recovery times can vary incredibly, depending on the procedure and the age/health/attitude of the patient.

Beelyboy!
I didn´t ever want to sound as conspiracy or that the band think as Europe as second thing!! I just asked a normal question regarding their history as a band.Nothing else .So I ask again to the experts, did they ever cancelled/ postponed any American tour??and Beelyboy its no second meaning or conspiracy included. OK??

nikkibong are your flights refundable transferable ??.

Or is it work that is causing you problems??.

I am meant to be working 25th Aug and have a feeling I may be unemployed shortly afterwards as I am going to Hampden come hell or high water its the only show in Scotland and seated or not I cannot miss it.

I have the luxuary of knowing I can pick up other work pretty easily but giving up 12 wks of paid holidays a year is a bind.

Fingers cropssed they wont get too upset when I offer them someone else to cover my shift.

But we are not "most people" and some of us are not amused. That's nothing special. I don't unterstand that people who are disappointed are treated like "not real fans" here. I thought a board like this is also here for the emotions of fans and should take this for normal. For some of them it's not so easy to loose the money. Some did count every cent to join the tour at some places. Not all are rich and can book "new travel". Some don't get off at their jobs.

Of course these fans will be also happy that Keith will be fine. But tonight many of us are disappointed and sometimes angry.

In other threads you said Keith should be healthier. No drinking no smoking. He should be responsible for his fans. A good role model. But maybe he was drunk and the fall........... Let's be honest. We can not have a hero which is not average and on the other side he is always innocent if something happens. Maybe he should have more responsibility before Europe Tours (only.... not important enough?) instead of stop smoking to be political correct role model. It's not consequent.

(sorry my english... I try to explain what I think)

I'm going to Europe at the time, regardless. But I'm leaving the continent on June 5th and I won't be able to return due to school commitments elsewhere . . .

If I understood correct the concerts in Spain will be in June. Can any IORRean who could really translate this. Because by being so this could affect the other dates in Europe

Re: European tour postponed!

can we get a translation here?!?!?

Re: European tour postponed!

In El Pais ( Maybe the biggest Spanish Newspaper)
"Los conciertos que los Rolling Stones tenían que ofrecer a finales de mayo en Barcelona y Madrid han sido aplazados "hasta mediados de junio"
This is the key sentence :
"The Concerts that the Rolling Stones had to give in the end of May in Barcelona and Madrid been moved to the middle of June"
Can somebody , Fluent in Spanish can confirm this??

Re: European tour postponed!

thats how I translate it too..however the way its written (in quotation marks) plus the vagueness of the dates suggest its theyre quoting someone doing a bit of guesswork

The only official announcement so far has been "June". No mention of whether thats early, mid or late June.

And if the Spanish dates ARE moved to mid June, that doesnt mean theyre the first shows on the tour.

Plus theres the added problem that there are ALREADY shows scheduled for mid June.

I don't think anybody knows when Keith will be ready. Nobody. They did some brain surgery this morning in New Zealand. Probably and hopefully not too complex. But serious enough that the doctors adviced or actually demanded Keith to rest a minimum of 3 weeks. They would not postpone the tour if this was just for 1-2 shows. My guess it this will be a 1-2 weeks delay. Best case one week, probably two weeks, worst case three weeks. But I am not a doctor. Not even a doctor will know how Keith will improve, how fast and how easily.

It doesn't make sense that they would try to move up all the shows to keep the planned sequence intact. Unless they are only postponing a couple that they can try to squeeze between already scheduled dates, I would imagine those shows will be held in September.

And after Milan?

Re: European tour postponed!

I think they said "a few weeks", Bjornulf, which is a suitably vague enough statement to cover a lot of bases.

However, I'm a bit discouraged by posts I've read on here and on Rocks Off by people who ARE medically qualified (or who have spouses who are) and who are saying that this type of operation can take MONTHS to recover from, instead of weeks.

I hope your prognosis is more accurate.

The main thing is that the guy gets well and resumes playing when he's fit to do so, but the frustration felt by many is perfectly understandable.

actually it does make some sense. You have to realise that once you get into September, youre in the football season and a lot of these stadiums may not be so readily available as they are during the summer.

Quite a few of the venues being used for the shows in June ARENT football stadiums (Horsens, Brno, etc) and they have more 'flexibility' for use than places like the Madrid venue. Other stadiums such as the ones in Barcelona and Paris arent used by club sides so it mightnt be quite as big a problem as, say, Madrid or Gothenburg because they're not in use quite as much. However, as far as the tour's logistics go it would be more problematic to have, say, a Madrid show in mid June and a Barcelona one in September etc

When we're all pessimistic, I just read in the local newspaper in Bergen (Norway) about Keith's operation, somthing that MIGHT cheer us up a little bit - at least it MAY make room for some optimism:

Quote:
"Hos arrangøren Bergen Live tar man foreløpig meldingene med stor ro.

– Vi har ikke hørt noe. Foreløpig er dette bare spekulasjoner, sier Nes.
"

Translation (not that good at translating things to English, but...):
"The presenter Bergen Live is for the moment calm about the messages:
- We haven't heard anything. For now, these are just speculations. says Nes"

Regarding wheter or not the concert in Bergen will be delayed.
I guess that's just speculations from their side as well, but at least they haven't heard anything from the Stones' management yet.

Licks Tour got a few delayed shows in September: Amesterdam Arena, etc and a few "new" shows like Coimbra, Zaragoza...

So my bet is that the delayed shows will be postponed for September.

squeezing postponed dates like Barcelona or Madrid in June will be very problematic, but they have some time after 25th Jun(Athens) and July 2 (Paris). 27 - Barca, 29 - Madrid ? But of course it's not that easy, stadiums are booked half a year before the show is taking place etc. It would be really a mess if they had to postponed German dates.

oh, I've read that polish promoter claims 'everything on schedule' in terms of Warsaw show, but of course, if it's aspeculatio nof they got some kind of information (I doubt it) we don't know.

I spoke with an good friend of mine whos a doctor and without mentioning Keith´s name I ask him what Subarachnoid Hemmorage ís about and how can affect an eldery man, over sixty and he said that if the operation went OK then he will have to rest for some months, not weeks, exactly like you said Gazza!
Beside that he mentioned how dangerous "Subarachnoid Hemmorage " can be, So we all have to be all gratefull that he is OK!!

Just going through Scandinavian newspapers to see if there's any info at all... smiling smiley
Gøteborgsposten is reporting that the Swedish promotor EMA-Telstar is saying that after what they've been told, it's only the two first shows in Barcelona and Madrid that are being postponed, and that the rest of the tour will go as planned.
