Keith Richards thanks 'beautiful ladies' at Auckland hospital
NZ Herald
11.05.06 12.05pm
[www.nzherald.co.nz]

Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards was discharged from hospital today but may stay in Auckland for some time, his publicist says.

Richards thanked Auckland's Ascot Hospital staff for the "truly wonderful" care he received.

"From the doctors to the beautiful ladies who make painful nights less painful and shorter. I'm pretty much at a loss for words to express my deep gratitude," he said.

"I hope I wasn't too much of a pain in the arse - after all it was my head they fixed. Many thanks, kiwis."

Richards, 62, underwent an operation on Monday to relieve pressure on his brain. The operation involved drilling a hole in his skull to drain blood from the brain.

His spokeswoman, Fran Curtis, said Richards would be staying in Auckland as an outpatient and would be returning to the hospital for check-ups.

"He will be an outpatient returning to the hospital for check-ups."

Richards injured his head when he fell out of a coconut tree while holidaying in Fiji at the end of the Stones' tour of New Zealand and Australia.

The band's European tour, due to start at the end of the month, has been scheduled to begin in June.- NZPA

"BULLET FOR THE BOSS" by MICKsBRAIN - copyright 2006

I was climbin' - I was up a tree
I was fallin' - hoping you'd save me
I was spinnin' - spinnin' right around
I was headin' - straight for the ground

I was believin' - believing in you
I was thinkin' - that you'd tell me true
I was cryin' - cause you knew i knew
I was shattered - cause you knew it too

I took a bullet - a bullet for the boss
you gotta lose some wins - when they're at a loss
you gotta use a shinny coin - when you make the toss
cause every lie has it's cost ...Ba - be
I said, every lie has it's cost...BA - BE
every lie has it's cost baby.......
WHEN YOU TAKE A BULLET FOR THE BOSS... (riff comes in)

Come on, somebody finish the rest.... where's Beely Boy, he writes good stuff...

PART TWO: "BULLET FOR THE BOSS" by MicksBrain/Beely Boy - copyright 2006 All right reserved

I was lyin' - lyin' on the ground
I was callin' - but didn't hear a sound
I was moanin' - but you were not around
I was lost - but now I have been found

I was dreamin' - of you and me
I was hopin' - you would set us free
i was floatin' - inside your love
I was watchin' - us from up above

And I...took a bullet for the boss
you were the meat and I was the sauce
A rollin' stone - gathers no moss
but every lie has it's cost.... ba - be
I said, every lie has it's cost..BA - BE
and you don't wanna eat the loss
WHEN YOU TAKE A BULLET FOR THE BOSS !!! (riff comes in)

I was feelin' - feelin' awfully strong
What a man goes through - just to sing his song
And I was spinnin' - spinnin' around
Been higher up - been further down

But I ain't preachin' - preachin' from no cross
Cause I'm just taking - a bullet for the boss
I said, I'm just taking - a bullet for the boss
I'm just taking - a bullet for the boss (oh yeah)
I'm just taking - a bullet for the boss
cause f*ckin' no one - no one - no one wants to eat the loss.... (song ends with long sustain - like the end of "Honky Tonk Women")

For my next trick I'm gonna make some animals out of balloons...hold on...
Hey, Bob Dylan just called - wants to take a meeting....

The statement is the best news we got in a while. And he is not looking too bad in the picture either. I am feeling quite hopeful again. See you on June 22 Keith!

So, once again the Sun is more truthful then "The Fran"...Sounds like he's gonna be alright, sounds like there's NO WAY this tour is starting in June (another lie from Fran) Paris, July 2nd...MAYBE Must say, excellent camera work, amazing...Good to see Keith walking, hopefully he'll be 100%....

Lola, I did read the text. 2 operations, he had some skull removed (hench the giant head bandage) That's brain surgery plus, the hole drilling - which took place when he was first flown to Auckland but Fran denies would not require that much head wrapping IMO. Why do you not believe this stuff. They've been pretty accurate, more than the Stones camp, I'll say that much. You listen to Fran and I'll follow the SUN.....

Nikkibong, not bad, didn't see it before...

MicksBrain,
You said the Sun is being more truthful than Fran? How do you know which is more true, are you there? Just because this story contradicts what she says, you belive it? I don't understand.

Swedish TV channel 4, reported just now that Keith has been released from hospital and he was in good spirits.

He was supposed to have said to the staff that he hoped not to have been
a pain in the arse.

Well that must be good old Keith in high spirits then.

Tour would be delayed a couple of weeks, but not canceled.

Now hopefully this is the news we want and need so bad.

Been Stoned since 1964 and still am!

Because Fran's already been caught in numerous lies. Look, I understand, This is a giant shock, most to the 4 band members who, besides Ronnie, have spent their entire adult lives together, so no one knows EXACTLY what's happening and what to say and how far to go. If this was a down year for the Stones with no tour I bet this would have been handled much differently.I understand the worry and near panic and all BUT it's always best to come clean then to cover up - there's plenty of politicians that will agree to that. Plus the Sun's given us the only post accident shots. The Stones camp has taken the approuch that the less said the better....and they ALMOST got away with it.....

How do I know which is more true? Cause I have a brain and understand how things work, throw in some logic, mix in standard human behaviour, and you pretty much get the picture. When a plane slams into a skyscraper does one think it's a bad pilot or done on purpose...logic will tell you right away that any pilot in trouble would do anything to miss the building, unless he wanted to hit the building - it's simple logic....everythings a puzzle, just put it together...

Though I think Curtis statement is at least consistent, I agree with Micksbrain that the stones camp policy was to be secret and deceiving and we don't know the exact reason why. I can guess that a good reason could be that in these cases is truly difficult to make a correct diagnosis/prognosis so the doctors themselves are very cautious and dont give answers 100% (I experienced that myself). So I think they (stones people) chose the "sovietic" guideline to reassure not giving any evidence of what they were saying (they couldn't). Keith was (maybe is) not fine. But maybe he truly has no big sign of the problem he had (maybe has). 3 days after I had cerebral ischemia and have gone thru problems with speech. I was in bed laughing, reading, joking etc. That did not mean "I was fine" in medical terms but I was fine. To be sure I was really fine I had to go thru repeated exams. And they did the same thing: discharge me from hiospital and have be back for check ups. So lets see what happen next and hope we have a direct sign from Keith that he is well and riffing

05.10.06 Keith Richards Continues To Improve
Contrary to stories in newspapers in New Zealand and the UK, Keith Richards did not undergo a second operation. The first and only operation was done on Monday, May 8 and was 100% successful. There was no brain damage. He continues to improve as expected.

The Rolling Stones "A Bigger Bang European tour" will begin in June with details to follow shortly.

holy moses - good morning. thank you Gazza for the updates;
too bad mb's having a relapse.

>> Fran's already been caught in numerous lies <<

the only "lies" i know of were the statement last week that Keith wouldn't need surgery
and that the tour schedule wouldn't be affected - and that may well have been what was believed at the time.
it's been clear from the first that we are not being kept informed; but there is no (0) need to assume they have ugly motives for that.
Stones Inc has been concentrating on protecting Keith's and his family's and the other Stones' privacy, which is totally appropriate.
Keith and his family and the other Stones need privacy and time and our good wishes.

Keith, be well - all the way, baby, all the way

The SUN is incorrect when they state Keith is back to the hospital. The hospital has denied this as a falsified story. Keith is staying in a private place in Auckland right now, but he will be back to the hospital for periodic checks the next days of course.

The Stones spokesperson Fran Curtis did not lie in the official statements, as far as I understand. They said he did not have any surgery initially, and he did not need any surgery. One week later it turns out Keith has got pain in his head so he back to the hospital for surgery. You do not need to be a doctor to understand a medical situation can get better or worse, it is not 100% predictable.

Right now he is out of the hospital, walking on his own. I am not sure if that is the case in a case of a patient with brain surgery. The fact that he is out so soon is a sign of his improved situation, which is good news for the shows in June. And for Keith and his health in general of course.

I heard he left hospital this morning on the radio. That's great news.

But what's with the second operation? He seems to have had it no?
