Beside the Stones--Animals---Kinks--Yardbirds---in 1967 I heard a great Album:
"Bee gees 1st" Incredible good Album---Sure influenced from the beatles in many parts, but still like "Every christion lion hearted man..." Great song!

Lost them--when they dropped 77 into the Disco---Szene..

I love Bee Gees, too. As Bono said: "It doesn't have to be said, the Bee Gees are up there with the Beatles."

Robin Gibb is still touring but I think Barry has some health problems.

Saw them in Edinburgh in 89 and they were great....not good for my street cred ....I know!

Robin & Barry played together in februari for the first time since Maurice died. Since then, it's quiet. Robin cancelled some solo performances. I also believe the tribute to Maurice is cancelled too.

There's a new compilation, with love songs...
And Rhino will re-release some Bee Gees classics like Children of The World & Spirits having Flown. (I love the disco-Bee Gees).

They don't look very cool, but those guys knew how to write a fantastic and clever songs. And they wrote dozens of them.

I bit predictable but the their best years are 1967-1972, but you can not compare them with The Beatles, they are different and sometimes followers.

Ever listen to Odessa '69, or Trafagar '72 ?

Good singers. Barry Gibb is THE man! Love his voice. I remember when I was around 11, I heard Emotional Rescue for the first time and thought that it was Barry Gibb singing it! Later in life, I wised up and realized that it was Jagger! He had such a kick-ass falsetto voice as well. By the way, I don't think that Barry and Robin are on speaking terms right now, are they? Some kind of rift between the two of them?

Hmmmmm, then why did he say it? As for me I first became aware of the Bee Gees during their Satruday Night Fever days and thereafter via the Sgt Peppers movie which put me off them in a big way. I have to say though that I'm woefully ignorant of their 60's catalog so I will have to investigate as the commnets here have piqued my interest.

always got a kick of hearing "more than a woman" in that lovely soprano voice. i tend to sing along "just like a woman" instead.

Thanks NICOS. I just listend to The Change is Made and It's Just The Way and I have to say they are not bad tunes. I still don't much care for their output after the mid 70's though. Thanks for the turn on!

That said, late '60s/early '70s Elvis would have SLAYED that song.

Regardless, I'd rank it in the top 10 songs written in the rock era. Totally brilliant.

they were wonderful.
they are moving and wonderful to this day.

i kinda mostly skipped the disco thing and everything after...
especially sgt. pepper film...oh gawwwdd...what a mess...
(except for aerosmith)

Both the Animals and Janis did killer covers of To Love Somebody. I love the Bee Gees - 60s & 70s.....they were among the few disco artists that had "soul." Main Course still holds up well all these decades on....

Al Green`s version of "How Can You Mend A Broken Heart" is also excellent.

underrated songwriters.

The Flying Burrito Bros cover of "To Love Sonebody" ,is fantastic.

I don't care what you big machos think, the bass line of Stayin Alive is one of the best things ever put on record.

It cannot be denied, pure pop brilliance over an incredible time span. I like the Bee Gees and although I didnt like the Sat night fever stuff when it was first about I quite like it now..early stuff is superb.

Bee Gees remind me of Abba - it wasnt always cool to admit you liked them, but really you knew in your heart it was good stuff.

Check out The Flying Burrito Brothers' version of Bee Gees' "To Love Somebody". It's such a great song!

And listening Stayin' alive and How deep is your love brings me sweet memories of my teenage years

Satuday Night Fever was the only disco music I could stomach. It's almost impossible to hear "Stayin Alive " without struttin' across the room ala John Travolita.

They're my guilty pleasure along with KC and the Sunshine Band.

Hey I`m getting worried....all us Stones fans with a liking (or at least an appreciation) of the Bee Gees.
