I have never been able to find the model -it's most likely a '60's National/Supro, but even that's a guess.

That's from the Anybody Seen My Baby video, right?

Well, well. I always have to do these jobs... LOL!

It seems to be a National guitar, a Town&Country model. Check these links:

[www.gbase.com] Gbase works as a pretty good database when searching vintage guitars.

Ugly as hell, BTW!

I asked that question myself several times. I think it is a very ugly guitar. The foto is from the B2B period.

Cheers,

There's your answer, miss sssoul. By the way, don't you have a name?

wow, thank you Bruno - well done indeed!
i was thinking National, but could never find anything that resembled it.
if Keith weren't behind it it would look pretty crappy, wouldn't it.

Yeah, Keith is actually so cool that he makes this ugly guitar look a bit cool in this photo.

just reading about it on those sites the gallant Bruno posted - thanks again and bravo, Bruno!
what would anyone want six knobs for? and isn't that a mighty awkward place to have the controls?
"looks downhome and sophisticated at the same time" - yeah, my sweet ass! :E

If you would have taken the time to actually READ the sites.. just kidding.. it's on there:

Two powerful National single coil pickups (which look very much like humbuckers) are controlled be a 3-way switch and SIX knobs, which are three different tone and volume circuts for bass, PU, Treble PU and both together.

i did READ it, thanks. i see what the knobs do,
just don't get why anyone would want six knobs for two pickups.
it seems very fidgety.

Like it says, it has 3 seperate tone and volume circuits, one for the bass PU, one for the treble PU and one for both together. I think it's strange too. It's probably supposed to be.. here goes that awful word again.. VINTAGE.

Where's that photo from?
Brides To Babylon, OK, but.... the studio session or what?
It seems more understandable if it is from one specific song, let's say Might As Well Get Juiced or something.
I remember the "making of BtB", that was sent on the TV. Didn't Keith use a strange guitar for Gunface, or am I wrong?

i don't know where the photo was taken Erik, but it looks like a photo/film shoot to me.
JuanTCB (above) thinks it's from the Anybody Seen My Baby video - i'll have to check that out.
maybe Keith only used this guitar when dangling from rooftop gargoyles ...

Ronnie has a silver-colored guitar with a bunch of knobs on it. Also Brian May's homemade guitar has a lot. But some of them are switches to change the way the elements are wirder together, producing a variety of sounds. The position of the knows is indeed strange, I agree.

Yea, that's quite funny, that he didn't want to bring one of his favourite guitars, when walking up there.

I wonder if Keith would play that guitar for real; I mean live. For the same reason that I am bad at playing Les Pauls: it has those knobs at the top, front of the body. Keith strums with his right hand very close to the neck, and also comes up very high on the upstroke. He would probably be contantly hitting those knobs. At least they are knobs and not PU switches. The Les Paul has the PU switxh right there and I personally am always whacking those pick-ups back and forth.

Of course this National guitar is not for real. It is purely for the visuals. These guitars were cheap, plywood instruments made for the mail order and shopping mall market. They are cheap, don't stay in tune, are very hard to play and sound bad. This guitar is purely for the video.

Robbie Krieger uses it on the video version for Break on Through by the Doors.

For anyone wondering what a National guitar sounds like, here's Phil X from Fretted Americana demonstrating a 1962 model.

I would love to hear Anybody Seen May Baby with this guitar especially the long high tones which i think Waddy played.
