I can understand keeping the ones you have used your self.

Just cant figure why they want ones of concerts they have never been to.

My grandmother used to collect funeral memorial cards from funerals she'd never been to. Appearantly, the tell a story. I suppose it's the aura of an age or event you collect.

I'm not the collecting type at all (apart from a dozen books I hardly have any memorabilia and not even all the early records), but I suppose it's what people do.

The criterium will be: "Must have the words 'Rolling Stones' printed on it" I suspect.

Well, some of the older ones are very nice, for instance some the
US tour stubs from 1981, the German and the French tickets of 1982
etc. I have 80% of the 81/82 tour stubs. But my first show was 1990.
A used stub was "there" when the Stones played.

It´s as much memorabilia as other stuff people are collecting. If
someone collects newspapers from 1964 up to now I don´t ask why he
does that, though his first show was 1998...

It´s just owning a part of the Stones history, the older the better.

My oldest stub is from Indianapolis 1972.

I often see unused tickets on ebay for sale, concert long passed.

I dont understand these people either .

To buy a ticket and not use it, if you cant go or sell it on just give it away.

Thats what I would do any way.

People collect just about anything...Plus, they are nice to document if shows actually happened. I have a friend who is collecting all tickets from 1962 to 1967...

does the value of the ticket stub depend on the quality of the setlist?

Yeah.. same thing as stamps.. ya can't use 'em or anything but they've got that "old" feel to 'em which people find interessting.

the stones tickets i got for the UK leg of the '99 tour were beautiful!! big, colorful with the lion and other artwork. plus they were originally printed for '98 and so have special stickers on them with a note to that effect. were they like that for the rest of europe on the 98/99 tour?
