Best guest musician so far? Who's a must some day?

I prefer the stones raw and solo without too many distractions or guests for the most part, but they've been such a giving band over the years letting so many open for them, big names, small names and guests appearing and all that. A credit to the stones in that they never appear to be afraid of being upstaged and NEVER are of course, but who has really 'clicked' with the band as guests over the years? - real standout performances?

Part two: What guests would be awesome singing or playing with the stones in the future? Chemistry and all that? Again, I prefer the band solo as a rule, but if we could pair somebody with the boys - who is that person or persons? Male or female?

Studio: Sonny Rollins. His solo on WOAF lifts the whole song to another level.

Live: Ernie Watts on the '81 tour. A wonderful addition to the art of weaving. He stepped into the spotlight for almost the whole show and was completely up to it. No small feat!

Man, I would of really liked to have seen Angus & Malcolm play w/ them!

To revive an old thread on upstaging the stones... they have the big names do a song or two w/ them, but they do not allow a big production from an opening band. I don't blame them; why would you want to take a chance?

I'm a huge fan of his acoustic stuff. Adore Nebraska. Are you heading to NOLA for the Jazzfest gig?

I don't like it when they bring on not important guests like Dave Matthews or Sheryl Crowe, but it's great when Stones are playing together with musicians who influenced them.

I prefer the blues guests.
Eric Clapton's Little Red Rooster solo from Atlantic City 1989, is just amazing. Maybe the best guest performance on a stones show ever.We also had Lee Hooker at the same show, Bo Diddley and Robert Cray in Miami 1994. Hubert Sumlin in Madison. Angus&Malcom on Rock me Baby. Just fantastic.

This tour Buddy Guy joined them onstage in Milwaukee for an incredible rendition of Night Time... one of the single-best things I ever saw the Stones do. Lisa smoked on vocals...

I saw a pic of stills on KB with the stones at a gig in Amsterdam in 1970.

I wonder how THAT could have been!

Stills was good friends with them back in those days. They used his house in 69 for the West Coast headquarters. I also read that Stills provided a solid connection for powders back then.
