It's true... I am a Big Ewan fan! But that's not the reason that these movies are among my favorites(cause I get that a lot...) It might be the other way around, but he definetely was the reason I watched some of them...! Cindy, have you mentioned your favorite films?

Yeah, Ewan's a total doll. I like Velvet Goldmine a lot, he really would make a great rockstar, and he wouldn't even need the cucumber (spinal tap reference ;-) )
I think the first time I saw him was a preview of Shallow Grave. He just had an interesting look and I saw that film for him, not knowing who he was. Plus he seems really in love with him wife, which makes me love him even more. Total cutie pie.

Here's my films:
Jaws (Hey Chippy - GREAT photo) Are you the one I had the big Jaws conversation with a few months back?
Good Fellas
Boondock Saints
Team America
Tommy Boy
Braveheart
American Dreamer

Like Easy Money with Rodney Dangerfield?

Jennifer Jason Leigh - that's pretty random, she is in some pretty good movies though.

Ha Ha! One of my guilty pleasures and one of Eastwood's
most underrated films, along with Thunderbolt and Lightfoot.
Can you get away with black, female character named Jemimah Brown nowadays? Nope.

Mine in no order are:

Network
The Hospital
Lolita (Kubrick's or anything by him)
Rope (Hitchcock before Brokeback Mountain)
Head (the Monkees)
The Godfather
Citizen Kane (or anything by Orson W.)
The Caine Mutiny
Man Who Shot Liberty Valence
The King of Comedy
anything by Chaplin

good call on Rope, tomk. One of my Hitchcock faves - filmed in one shoot from single room location (like a play, really). No edits whatsoever. Cool stuff.

I'm glad you like it, too. A terrific movie.
Great cast, great story, and true, edited in the camera.
Everyone should check it out. One of Hitchcock's best,
along with Shadow Of a Doubt (How could I have left that one off?)

Actually I dont go by movies but by moviemakers and actors.
Have a soft spot for college- and nerdmovies and howdydoodiethings
plus pure comedy like:

Films with Jim Carrey; John Belushi; Dan Aykroyd
It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World (1963)
Blues Brothers [www.imdb.com]
The Nerds-movies
Macken (Swedish)
Month Python, anything

Then more heavy stuff like

Jodorowski
Kaurismäki Bro's
Kieslowski
Jarmusch (isnt heavy., but tend to count as that)
Woody Allen (not all, some)

Extreme horror and splatter etc, hardcore

Elm Street
Return Of The Living Dead etc

Good action and drama with

Gene Hackman
Anthony Hopkins
Ernst Günther (Sw.)

Fav film music composers

Zbiegniev Preisner [www.preisner.com]
Enico Morricone

All this and my postings above aside my
all-time fav's is Down By Law, Scarecrowe, Hair, Blues Brothers & Killer Klowns

Same here. Arguably Hitch's best and nothing but top performances. Brilliant, ironic script by Ernest Lehman, Cary Grant in a wonderful subversive role, his opponent James mason as a velvet villain, the great Bernard Hermann with what might be his bets score ever, and the master himself in rare form. One of the very few movies I know by heart. Doesn't loose any of it's magic even after repeated viewings.

Anything by Kubrick. The man has produced only masterpieces (the possible exception being his last).

Fellini's Amarcord, La dolce vita, others

Some very good movies have come out of Hollywood in recent years: Sideways, and esp. Lost in Translation - a gem.

Anyone seen La cérémonie by Claude Chabrol, the great french director, starring Isabelle Huppert? Great film about social exclusion and revenge. Mingle Marx and Hitchcock and you end up with something like this.

La pianiste, by Michael Haneke. A sledgehammer of a movie (again with Huppert)

some things form the top of my mind..

Great choices, esp. Gazza and tomk. Just for fun, here are artworks for some of my favorite flicks I already mentioned on page 1, can't put them all cause all servers worldwide would collapse:

As you can see, most of my favorite movies are about (straight) cowboys, gangsters, soldiers, psychopats, zombies and teenage girls. Yup, I'm all man... (lights a smoke and opens a beer)

My Favourite Film is....

A film which told exactly the story I lived through and brought back to much of may memories. But one day truth will show up hit you or releave you.
Can you imagine that even the conversation in the film have been just like we were talking at that time? All the beauty of the film all the pace, the sadness and happiness I have encountered.
But life has to go on, like the Stones roll on...
Ennis is my story.... and horses dragged me away..
