OT: protest

A pretty big anti war prostest just went by my workplace in downtown SF. It was pretty loud, but under control. losts of uniformed and uniniformed cops surrounding the perimiter. I guess to make sure people dont splinter off and cause "anarchy".

Considering we U.S. taxpayers are paying $6 billion a month for this Iraq fiasco any protest is welcome...

Did you catch Dick Cheney last Sunday in front of "a jammed audience of 5,000 applauding attendees" at the American Israeli Public Awareness Committee (AIPAC) as Cheney was pounding the war drums for Iran ??

Cheney didn't want to be up-staged by our Ambassador to the U.N., John the Walrus Bolton who was at AIPAC the previous Sunday before another jam-packed cheering crowd as Bolton issued more threats to send our brave troops and taxdollars to attack yet another Muslim nation.

Ask yourselves WHO is stoking the fires for these wars and you only have to follow the "neo-con trail".

"It's just that demon life has got me in it's sway..."

The number of people out on the streets was down I guess this year, but poll numbers supporting the war and supporting bush are at an all time low. I think the approval for the war is 29% hopefully this has some impact and is a sign things will change for the better.

The Republicans won't survive this... Hope there will be no invasion of Iran... Bad news if that were to happen... Peace can be such a good thing...

Poor Bush keeps stumbling, can't even answer some questions from the audience. See [www.npr.org]

Hey you guys, Don't count on it - Kings and Dictators don't listen to the people (oh what a retarded assh*le he was giving his speech yesterday. If "Marble Mouth" only knew how to talk - It's easier understanding Keith at his worst)

No, Kings and dictators dont listen to people. but this IS still America.

I think support for "how" the war is being handled is what is down - not necessarily the war itself. I think most of those that supported it still do and vice versa. But there is no denying that Bush's domestic attention is giving him the low numbers in the polls. He never wants to address any of the domestic issues. We can not even be given a chance to disagree with him on them. Ignoring the issues doesn't make them go away- that is what is getting annoying for me.

not a participatory democracy tho...
head of state not elected...
illegal war based on proven lies, and not declared by congress...
as required by law...
billions stolen, tens of thousands killed and maimed and vaporized
and beaten and tortured...including toddlers and women carpet bombed...

"embedded" reporters, "free speech zones"
"legalized" international and domestic slavery...

i guess this is still america....
gold coast slave she bound for cotton fields...

ryan, i know u r a good guy...this is NOT personal in any way...

but once the constitution and the bill of rights are
void where prohibited...
and the media 'news' outlets are corporate whores full of
disinformation and marshmellow fluff,
and the electoral college is controlled by the ruling elite...
electronic voting machines that yer 12 year old could hack...

well, "this IS still America" ??

this is the new sweet neocon america and you can smell the death
and feel the poison everywhere in the world....
and we are not doing what jefferson and paine told us
would be necessary, in our own founding documents...
cause they knew this shit would happen eventually...
king george et al. etc. et.c et.c....

You bring up good points. But what I mean is that the system has not been TOTALLY dismantled...yet. It might be possilbe to ride this out. but im not saying i KNOW for certian. as one of my teachers said, theres only three times in the history of the US that our future has been in jeapordy. The revolution, the civil war and right now.

"The Republicans won't survive this... Hope there will be no invasion of Iran... Bad news if that were to happen... Peace can be such a good thing..."

Of course they will. Look how badly the country was doing 18 months ago...and even MORE people voted for Bush than the first election. People actually voted for Bush over Gore after 8 years of peace & prosperity. I love America...but most of my countrymen do not...so they'll vote for "lower taxes" or some other nonsense. They vote for themselves, not the good of the country.

Republicans will still vote republican...no matter how badly it hurts the country. People in general (of any party) hate to admit they're wrong...so they'd rather just keep being wrong than face the facts.

This is still America....in name on a map...You guys want to hear the ultimate freak out story? OK, Bush was not "technically" elected in 2000 because the Supreme Court installed him SO.... he's technically not a 2 term PREZ. That means he can run in 2008.... why's everybody looking like they're ready to puke ??

you have a good teacher there i bet, ryan...
maybe the nam/nixon thing too...
enemies list...fbi down lennon's throat...
blacklisting, 50,000 dead americans...
god knows how many vietnamese and cambodians...
now the 'commies' are the 'hippies' are the 'terrorists'
and on we go...
good night and good luck...

and finally, we lost that illegal nam war...
and now we have diplomatic relations with nam,
still communist... and all the terror and fear
of the 'domino' theory was bullshit..
but being recycled pretty successfully for the
military industrial complex $$$$$

and this heeyah sitch is just a continuation
of poppy bush iran-contra thievery and illegal
secret terrorist war
against nicaraguan farm women...
cheney, rumsfeld, bush, baker...
the same crew is still in power...

might be fun to bring that up in class...
see what peeps think...

jefferson airplane opened for the stones at altamont
as we all know from 'gimme shelter' flick...

wonder if they did 'volunteers' that day...

"Look what's happening out in the streets
Got a revolution Got to revolution
Hey I'm dancing down the streets
Got a revolution Got to revolution
Ain't it amazing all the people I meet
Got a revolution Got to revolution
One generation got old
One generation got soul
This generation got no destination to hold
Pick up the cry
Hey now it's time for you and me
Got a revolution Got to revolution
Come on now we're marching to the sea
Got a revolution Got to revolution
Who will take it from you
We will and who are we
We are volunteers of America"

All this talk about nothing....civil war or not, most American troops will be home within the next couple of years. We've done our job and its time for Iraq to handle their problems, not us.

Does that mean I agree with you... Hell NO!

But this thing will be over soon enough, as far as the USA is concerned. The USA is over the top, fed up with the Middle-East. The whole region is a cess-pool inhabited by savages, unworthy of our attention.

See, Micksbrain et al, I'm a Populist. Albeit, A Republican Populist, but populist the same.

All (or most) of you showing your true colors. Gee, I thought the Democrats were a party of tolerance! Yet all I hear and see are hateful things. You should see the disgusting things in NYC. God forbid you say you are Republican - you are shoued at; cursed and threatened.

Yep,those dems be tolerant.

Stoneguy, you are as much a hypocrite as you are a true pussy.

You threaten violence against those who dare disagree with you and call them cowards. As evidenced in your previous posts elsewhere thoughout this board.

Don't worry about threatening me with your pathetic rants. I'm one person you can't kow-tow...I've got chunks of fools like you in my stool.

You're a pussy....pure and simple.

Note to Bjornulf:....Sorry, man, but this jerk brings out the very worst in me....Please bring us back to the Stones.

Gut...who did I threaten for disagreeing with me? It's sad that you have to smear the board with your rant...but likely just how you were raised. In any case...traitors like you are what is wrong with America...but still...I support your freedom to attempt to destroy America more than any terrorist would dream of though your votes & your rants. One question though traitor...what EXACTLY do you hate about America?
