Question on Sway (single version)
Posted by: René ()

The single version of Sway (b-side from the Wild Horses single) can be found on the following bootlegs:

- Beggars Breakfast (Invasion Unlimited IU 9411-1)
- Rare On Mainstreet (Tong Records TU 9411-1)
- Thee Satanic Sessions (DIA CD 002)
- Time Trip - Vol.2 (RS 100-2)
- Tricky Fingers & Slicky Ringers (LU 9316)

Which one has the best sounding (& complete) version?

It can also be found on The Black Box, but that version fades in, very annoying.

I know, but mine is full of scratches. Trying to find a unplayed copy for a long time now, no succes up till now. So a good sounding bootleg version seems a good alternative for the time beeing......

Time Trip II is the best version from the above (IMO)

OK, thanx Potted Shrimp!
Are you aware of a bootleg with a even better version than the one on Time Trip?

Niet echt, de meeste versie zijn een beetje 'dof'. Misschien omdat al deze versies van de single getrokken zijn en niet vanaf de tape.

Is the Sway b-side just a shortend version of the album track?

No, it's an alt. take / mix with Keith on audible back up vocals

To Potted Schrimp:

OK man, bedankt voor de info! Heb je mijn vragen over All Down The Line & Before They Make Me Run in het forum ook gezien? Misschien weet je hier ook een antwoord op.........? Heb die singles wel, maar deze zijn zeker niet in perfecte staat, probeer "unplayed" exemplaren te bemachtigen, maar dat valt niet mee...

To the rest:

This alt. take of Sway is better than the original IMO. Bit rougher mix maybe, also some different vocal parts of Jagger apart from the back-up from Keith. It seems like the strings are a bit higher in the mix also. No count in as on the Sticky Fingers version and it fades out earlier (only a few seconds).

Hi stone-relics,

Saw your sign: "Home of the World's RAREST Rolling Stones records!".
So my question is:
Do you have the following 7" singles for sale? (Only unplayed condition please, cause I already own these singles, but not in unplayed condition):

“Before They Make Me Run” promo 7” single
(Rolling Stones Records / Atlantic PR 316) US, June 1978
with: Before They Make Me Run (promo mix) (3.16)

“Happy / All Down The Line” 7” single
(Rolling Stones Records RS 19104) US, July 15, 1972 (first pressings only)
with: All Down The Line (single version) (3.56)

“Wild Horses / Sway” 7” single
(Rolling Stones Records / Atlantic RS 19101) US, June 12, 1971 (first pressings only)
with: Sway (single version) (3.25)

Thanx!

René
