Actually cried when I first heard to opening to Under My Thumb in 81. They were so beautiful and I couldn't believe that I was REALLY looking at them. Feel the same when I see them today. Something about the start of You Can't Always... still brings about the waterworks. Perhaps it hits too close to home, haha!

The first time I want to go was in 1970, Amsterdam, I didn't go because of my age 16, to go alone to Amterdam was a big step.

Next time I saw them in 1973 Rotterdam Ahoy, I remember everything, buying ticktes at the "Haagsche Courant" (my local news paper), buying my first bootleg at the concert, and remember "Midnight Rambler" when Mick hitting his belt on the stage and all the light went Hell white. Bang
And that Mick was trowing buckets full of water in the crowd.

Then in 1976, The Hague "ADO Stadium" saw them twice then, first time with a ticked second time for Free, because it wasn't selled out and you can go in for free the last our of the concert.
I remember there where two girls behind me that start screaming for 15 minutes when the Stones apear on the stage.
(cant remeber much of the songs they playing)
One other thing that happend on this concert, where the Hells Angels.
I was sitting high and dry in the stadium, when the Hells Angels got on the field, I think 50 of them, they went in front of the field and everybody break away, except a few of them and that start a fight (man that was scaring).
But in 15 minutes there where about 100 cops who cleaned the field with all the Angels.

After that I saw them in a lot of "to" big stadiums.

The shows I did liked where Groningen (standing on the field) near the stage.
And Rotterdam the last time I saw them, standing in front of the stage (and that was the biggest experience), I went there with my youngest son (13) although the beginning of the concert was a bit to loud for him ( he said I want to go home) I old him you get used to it.
And he did.

Man I could write this in 10 minutes, if I did it in my own language, now it took my an our.

happy reading

Nico! Congratulations! I wasn't even in 1973 nor 1976. That's really something, seeing them back then! I'd pay 20 bootlegs for a time trip back to the Ahoy 1973.

NICOS, I respect you, my friend, for sharing your stories in English. Those are great stories. I didn't realize those damn Hells Angels were in Europe, too. I think they have mostly dissolved now. What year was the Rotterdam show? Being close to the front of the stage can make such a huge difference for me in enjoying a show.

My closest was when I saw the Stones in Nashville, TN in 2002. I was sitting on the side, cheap seats because they weren't in front, but it was on Keith's side. He came over and basically did a guitar solo in front of me while I was standing right in front of him doing my air guitar solo. I know it was goofy, but I enjoyed it. He was laughing at me, not with me.

Party on!!

Yes, but I still find it strange that I remember 1973 better then 1976.

Just send me the Bootlegs and I tell you more details about 1973 winking smiley

Hell's Angels? They're even here in Harstad! (Not exactly, but they are a almost that, they live the same way.) My band played about 10 concerts at their place. We were stoned when the concert was over.
Pretty funny, in my neighbour town: An MC-club was investegated by the police. Reason: A band (pretty innocent pop-band) played a concert there, and when they played "Born To Be Wild", the MC-club, didn't let them go off stage. They had to play it about 15 times. If they stopped playing, they would be "kicked and hit till' they couldn't stand on their legs".

(Sorry, if it's not interesting, I just find it really funny, 'cos I've seen these guys, and they look so scared.)

Yeah Man !! hit they when they are drunk.

No, they are not that (bad), I spoke with them at the yearly concert in my home town, every year there is a free concert ( 100.000 to 300.000) visitors.
And they are showing there motors, and selling all kinds of goods/stuff ( they are getting really commercial)

(o)(o)(o)(o)(o)(o)(o)(o)(o)(o)(o)(o)(o)(o)(o)(o)(o)(o)(o)(o)(o)(o)(o)(o)

I promised to tell the rest of the story about "The hague 1976" and the Hells Angels.

As I told you I vised the first concert, the second concert I was hanging around the stadium and listen to the music.

As I told you at the first concert The Hells Angels where beating of the stadium by thr MP (military Police) because or there bad behaviour (they came very late to the concett and want to sit in front row of the field)

So the next day the same thing happend, only now I was at the gate where they where carried away in the police cars (and they did this not softly) they used those rubber lath (and I now how this feels).

Mman that was scarry seeing those Angels with big Nazi Cross on there T-Shirts.

But there was some fun, the next day I read in the news paper, some guy's burned one or two of there bycicles to Hell.

Man !!! and you saw Altamont they don't like that.

Sorry made a mistake must be ME (Mobile Unit) instead of MP (military Police) my son just told me better can use the word "SQUAD" ( but I think he is playing to much games on the computer)

Thanks for the story, NICOS. It's at times like that when I'm glad to see the police.

I jump up and down and sing along to every song. It's the best moments of my life.

In '98 in Oslo I guess I had a bit too much to drink, so while they played Sympathy For The Devil and Tumblin' Dice I had to sit down for awhile. So I missed two of the best songs... Though I remember seeing Mick put on his red robe up-side-down on the small stage. One of the crew had to help him.

So both shows in Stockholm 2003 (Stadium and Globen) I just had a few beers before going in. Though on the Stadium show I guess Ronnie had about fifty more than me.

In Gothenburg this summer I guess I'll do the same, jump up and down and sing along.
