very subtle, really got me excited, up and down my spine it went.
that was his black Fender Tele. He also has a b-bender in his red ESP Telecaster.
You can see when Ron is getting prepared for the bender - he stands still, shoulder and strap in place and then ... <<

that is way cool and i am having a blast, up and down my spine and everything! :E
i want more - where can i witness more of Ronnie doin his b-bender thing, please and thank you very kindly?

Well, as I mentioned before on another thread, I use a b-bender. I use it on maybe 5 or 6 songs out of the 20 or so in my set. You don't want to overdo it. I love it.
I always wanted one. Got mine in NAshville.
I wanted one because of Ron Wood really. Love the way he uses it, especially BTMMR. Although I love Clarance White and his playing, his use (and invention) of it wasn't the reason I got it (listen to Byrds Younger Than Yesterday and Wasn't Born To Follow for examples).
It's a lot heavier than a normal Tele, and you only pull down maybe 2-3 inches
on the neck for the device to work. It also has a tuning knob on the back of the guitar to adjust the pitch. It took a little getting used to, but not much.
If you were used to playing a scale in one position, sometimes you have to rearrange
where you want to go on the neck if you want to use the bender 'cause if you're not careful, you can hit a clunker. I kind of use it as a secret weapon. MOst guitar players have never seen one (and a lot don't even know what one is). I'd be surprised if here in LA there are less than a handful of guitarists that have one.
I think Gene PArsons' b-bender web site has a bunch of 30 second soundbytes of various B-bender licks. ANd at the end of the day, it's still a Telecaster.

yeah, you shouldn't over do it, not too many songs - to pull out the V-weapon.
I think Ron uses it so subtile, and its quite hard to tell when he does.
but thats the magic, innit?

It's only the Taylorites, who are deaf to Ronnies licks. they dont appreciate his playing.
It hasn't been there before - till Ron played it. HTW for instance.
of course everyone loves the best ever single studio version of HTW,
+ we had a lot of great live versions. Keith is always in focus, of course
...but Rons bends cant be topped
its not endless noodeling, its lean and precise bends.
Ron seams so prepeared for them - I love it

I have only spotted these 2 Teles equipped with Parsons White B-Benders, so far.
The black Tele probably isn't a Fender but also ESP.

am i picturing this properly? pulling it down like that is what engages it, and once it's engaged it responds to the pressure you're putting on the neck?
how easy is it to engage it by accident, just in the course of acting like a Guitar Hero? :E

Good question.
My guess would date it to '92

Maybe we can put a list of songs together, where the B-Bender can be heard.

after you've finished, can you pass it on, please.

My error. It's more like an inch. The device is attached
to the strap so when you pull down, the bender device activates.
So when you push down on the neck, the pitch on the b-string rises.
and when you bring it back down, it returns to its original note.
I hope i'm making sense. Got to the b-bender website for more info.
YOu don't have to tug too much on it to get it going.
YOu can also do it in reverse and push down, then hit the string
so its bending down back to the note. It's a pedal-steel effect, really.
As for with sssoul wanting to try mine out, anyone that lives
near or in or passing through the LA area is welcome at my house.

june 1986 - and isn't that interesting: somehow i was picturing it the other way around:
that Keith got one because Ronnie had one that he was getting good mileage out of.
