>> why? <<

... because strange things always seem to happen when they play that number?
anyway it doesn't seem like the most ideal time to dust off Under My Thumb ...

When they announced this concert, my first thought was that holding a free concert for 2 million people in a poverty-stricken country known for its violent street gangs was not exactly the brightest idea I'd ever heard.

Hopefully everything will go ok. Concert security has come along way since Altamont. Still, with a crowd of 2 million people, if a riot or any kind of bad incident got going, it seems like it would be tough to control the crowd, especially in a country with a reputation for lawlessness. Keith can only bash so many people over the head with his guitar.

Rio has a population of over 6 million.

How many people die due to violence in LA or say New York each day.

I think this is being blown out of all proportion.

Don't worry be happy. Rio is as safe as any other place. Just leave your Rolex at home. Thye shoot drug dealers not Stones fans.
