The Evolution of Live with Me
Date: February 16, 2006 04:26

You wanna talk about a song that has gone through some serious changes since it was recorded here is one......

1. when they played it 69 it sounded very much like the original cut.
2. In 70, keith and bill played a Duet type opening.
3. When it was done at Leeds in 71, they used a panio opening.
4. When it was reserected in 94. it was very much a highlight for daryll and charlie, with some crasy off-beat keith licks, which was cool
5. Kind of got the same type of version in 97/8 and on no security the album.
6. in 99, ya kinda got this jam type version where keith would play whatever he felt was right
7. in 02/03 you got a full accompnyment version, with both guitars starting right after the intro, and weaving thought the whole song.
8. when they played it in albany and others, keith had very much played the intro with darryl, very very cool.

my favorate by far has to be olympia 03.........

any thoughts???

.....keep on rolling.....

I have to confess that I never liked that song live sad smiley
It was best in 69, however - in my opinion!

'69 version on Ya-Ya's is my favorite.

Hawaii 1973 was solid as well.

I love it. And the best version is the B-side version that also makes an appearance on Rarities. That's the best. Second best is the Ya'-Ya's version (Also KILLER).

Not one of my favorites overall, but I think that the best version by far (including the album cut) is the Ya-Yas one. That guitar intro gets the momentum going from the first note and it doesn't let up at all.

The bass lines of Darryl Jones adds something essential to the song. I prefer the versions scince Darryl has joined the band.

I love the version on Rarities, I think Keith rocks like hell on this one. IsnĀ“t it the recording from the Stripped-special (1995)? Or from when is it?

Keith's pounding of the riff has been MIA since the '69 version.

"Live with me" and "Let it bleed" are the worst (or say: most overrated) songs on LET IT BLEED. Since they are easy to play they were still often played live. They should better bury them both and resurrect "Love in vain" or introduce "Country honk" in the set list.

The '69 live version is not that similar to the album cut. The guitars play the intro riff, instead of the bass, giving it almost a glam-rock sound. It becomes a barn burner, which is fine, but I prefer the slinky studio version, with low-key guitars.

Preferring "Country Honk" to "Let It Bleed" strikes me as odd.

i miss the sax on gyyyo. 2003 was good. is there a good quality recording from 71 floating around? that must be a version with sax or horns!?

I think Bobby played sax in Europe '70. Not 100% sure on that, though.

the '03 version of raritites is certainly the best.. darryl gives this song another dimension !

The version on Rarities, believe it or not,is the No Security album version from 1998.It's not the same as the Stripped ~ Wild Horses b-side.
