I am not sure if anyone remembers, Robin Lane and the Chartbusters!
Robin is a very good friend of mine and was married to Andy Sumner of the Police and also sang backing vocals with Neil Young on Everybody knows this is nowhere. She still is putting out great music.

i remember Robin Lane and the Chartbusters from a comp i bought in '80 called "Troublemakers"......thats all i had with them, but i do remember the name

The Music are great, so are Powerfinger.

A great CD is "Maybe You've Been Brainwashed Too" by the New Radicals. They have a definite Stone's influence.

Also check out Buckcherry. Great Stones and AC/DC influence, similar to the Black Crowes, but different. They have a great live energy.

I am so happy to see that you know who Robin is. She still looks te same, just a tad older. Her website you can go to and listen to her new songs. Wishin on Telestar is my favorite. Also, I didn't realize that Robin's dad was the pianist of Dean Martin. She's alot of fun to hang out with though. She still plays with Asa and the rest of the Chartbusters. Asa got Robin's band going. I saw at the end of this read that Asa went over to Europe and played for fans like, MICK JAGGER.

Back in Boston in 1974 Asa started the Mezz, a stripped down rock 'n roll band. They convinced the owner of a Kenmore Square bar called the Rathskeller to let them play. Thus began the "Years of the Rat", the dingy club that became a center for what was later dubbed punk rock. During the reign of the Mezz (and its two spinoffs - Nervous Eaters and the Chartbusters) the Rat would become the birthplace of the Cars, Human Sexual Response and lots of other Boston favorites, as well as a pit stop for the Ramones, Talking Heads, the Police, and countless others on the same narrow road. But by the time Punk Rock became an international cause celebre in 1976, Asa was already off to his next adventure. He had a day job running a Cambridge health food store frequented by Jonathan Richman. When Richman's first Modern Lovers album - recorded a few years earlier - was finally released in '76, Jonathan found himself in demand. He convinced Asa to join the hastily reformed Modern Lovers, just in time for their first tour or Europe. A few days after his last Rat gig, Asa was playing in European concert halls to fans from Sid Vicious to Mick Jagger.

Yes, The Middle East is still open, The Channel is gone, The Paradise is still a hot place to go. The Rat I am not sure of.
I just was on her website and clicked and listened to her songs. The letter is very deep, Yet the song called, IDOT and Caught in the act are fantastic. Robin was married to this drummer and lived across the street from my sister. Robin came home and found him, Caught in the act. Thats another song. She's playing Feb 16th on Brattle St. May try to make it down. Odd thing is, Peter Wolf of J-Geils is always at her show. He still wears just all black and dark shades. He's always also at the Stones shows in the back. Growing up in Cambridge was alot of fun. Lots of bands like Aerosmith before they became famous.

thanks for the info...don't think i'll be able to make it there (i live on the other coast).....i played on a bill there about 5 years ago that included the Real Kids and it was a blast!....ya never know how long these clubs will last

Danko Jones - holy shit, this is some of the best rock I've listened to for a long time. Dudes in the UK, make sure you check it out when they tour soon!

Quireboys - the reincarnation of the Faces. used to be called the 'Queerboys' till they decided to change their name.

Thunder - Damn, that dude can belt out a tune, Blues rock at its best

Diesel Park West were great, they covered Memo From Turner on their Flipped CD.

Nikki Sudden is a little known but it's criminal that he's not REALLY well known. Check out www.nikkisudden.com or his last CD: Treasure Island with Ian Maclagan and Mick Taylor.

Josh 2131: New radicals (maybe you've been brainwashed) are quite good but the production is way too "pop music" to my taste.

I looked for an earlier thread to post this.

The '90s band, Come, formed in Boston with a music that is the meeting point between blues rock and alternative rock, more or less in an indie context, I think is sadly overlooked. That is also the view I find expressed outside this forum when I search for the band Come.

Four albums, of which I have got the three first, but not the fourth. I am delighted by those three albums that I have heard.

Ha, I do have two "relatively unknown" favorite (former) bands
The one was named Free Drunk. The bassplayer died this year, the singer "messed up" his voice and the lead guitar player lost his (backup) voice and became incontinent ... making the band obsolete after 40 years ... 5 years ago.
The other one was named Dunhill, a Japanese band with a Caucasian singer. The band stopped after I returned to Europe in 1976
Yep, I was the singer ... and both gave me a lot of pleasure!
The good news is ... The Rolling Stones are still around
