Awesome ! Exceeded my expectations. Totally live with no help from a backing track or any crap like that. Pure Stones Rock and Roll. Bad chords and all. I loved it ! Reminded me of '81. I got some satisfaction.
I had a slight fear that our boys might embarass themselves. NO WAY! Excellent! Did Mick not say "Cocks" our was he edited? Great! Atlanta on Wednesday! Blew Macca's ass away!
Was the stage cool or what? DILIGAF about the game? Damn, the band was on fire!

Mick seemed dis-oriented to start, but got into it and enjoyed himself for the last two of numbers...
Cameras didn't pick up Keith much; Ronnie was Ronnie (looked good, his slide was way TOO ragged and sloppy), and Satisfaction needed the horns and backing vox.
Good to see the band play rock n roll but this won't be viewed as a good performance...way too rough, sound was off, and not enough Keith.
Agree with Doc! What do people want now? Now I see people saying they NEEDED BU singers and horns. Finally just the core band. They were hot. Ron, Keith and Jagger were ..man that was real Stones stuff.

Some of the rest of you would bitch if MT, Brian, Loog, Stu, and Jimmy Phelge were there! Lighten up! This was great for anybody , much less 60 year old millionaires!
Well, I had mixed feelings when I saw it on TV. Performance seemed good, but the sound quality and mix was horrible... but now I listened to the Mp3s - and it sounds absolutely great to me!!
I thought it was great! They did a great job. The boys were displaying lots of energy and I loved at the end when Mick, Keith and Ronnie were all over the stage.
Start Me Up - Awesome solo by Ronnie, actually one of the best I have ever heard of him playing on Start Me Up.
Rough Justice - Well, this song is great. Works really well live and they kicked ass! Mick was really good and doing his thing as well as always.
Satisfaction - Great version of the best song to close the performance. Charlie is the man as always and I loved Keith's solo! Lots of energy from the band.
By the way Keith looked cool as hell dressed all in black!!
"Too many roads lead to nowhere But how they twist and they turn And a dead end and a dusty old strip mall Where your tires are all shredded and burned"
My heart sunk when I first caught a dreadful Mick & Charlie-only mix for half of SMU, but then it was corrected, for Keith & Ron were making a truly big and nasty racket, and the Stones as a band were raw, grungy, deliciously unkempt, stripped down WHAM BAM....First post-set impression very positive...Thank god, w/ Chuck inaudible, & no bv's/horns, they hit one out of the park...uh, wait, that's baseball...They rushed through their 12 minute set like it was '78 SNL again, but better, and I'm satisfied.
At the very end Jagger called out something like "One more time" to wrap it up, just as Keith was atrting to solo again. It was the first time ever I have seen Keith nod very obviously to Jagger in acknowledgement. He immediately stopped and called the ending. Even DJ looked good in leather.LOL

They were AWESOME as ALWAYS! Mick Is BEAUTIFUL! I Love that man! Keith oozed COOLNESS!!!! Ronnie was looking happy and Played with a smile! And Charlie looked as Sharp as a man in a teeshirt could! Amazing Just Amazing! God are we the LUCKIEST Generation??!!!! YEP!
My 15 year old Son and his buddies are here watching the game and they ALL AGREED, they LOVED the show! ((But I think they knew if they didn't like it they'd have to leave my house!! LOL!!)) just kidding!
Mick knew he had 12 minutes! The boys were so GREAT! Ronnie's playing was so good, I really feel great for him (especially with all the worthless bullshit that's said about him!!).
<< Ronnie's playing was so good, I really feel great for him (especially with all the worthless bullshit that's said about him!!). >>
I can't agree with you more. It was actually most refreshing to watch the cameras follow Ronnie almost religiously rather than treat him as some sort of sideshow as is done with most Stones releases.
Not taking anything away from the rest of the band, but clearly tonight it was the Mick and Ronnie show!

Amen to that one DrPete!
Just think...it was just last Friday me and WNYStones, met you, at the St. Louis Show! And we were watching in amazment at how Great these guys are!
For people to put them down in any way is just beyond my comprehension! The Stones are, and will REMAIN, THE WORLDS GREATEST ROCK N ROLL BAND!
I was so nervous before it started. I feared the worst, but all worries were dashed. OK, we all knew what songs they were gonna play, but they kicked ass. Keith looked like the coolest mutha of all time up there. Charlie was rocking hard and playing so deceptively simple, that it's hard to understand how anyone playing so effortlessly could be so good. Ronnie was engaged and Mick knew what was at stake for them and delivered big time! Only bad part for me was the deletion of the risque words, lines. Did Mick say them out loud, but the TV audio knew when to mute him, or did he simply just not sing them?
Seconds after the show some were bitching!! They must not have seen the same as you and I. Maybe they need some new stereo equipment or their hearing checked! WOOOHOOO back to Buffalo!!!

Never, when they are 100% concentrated! Don't forget, this performance was not "a usual show out of 105"... As NY Times wrote recently, the Stones during an "off" night are just decent but during an "on" night are stellar. (In my opinion even "off" they outplay the 98% of the other bands but i'm still trying to find this 5%...)
