Is it a metaphor for a girl coming out of somewhere ? A groupie ?

It can’t be the State (it would be Carolina)

I mean, "make my play" makes sense (and is a fairly common phrase), whereas the other two don't...

oops, sorry! Caroline could indeed be the state, and/or a female name, and/or both at the same time, why not. and "play" sounds good to me.

yikes - no, of course the Stones didn't tour in 68. they'd done US tours in 64, 65 and 66, and you can check them out here:

I thought that it was about the Queen of England. And the fact that once (Right after the 2nd World War) women's dresses made out of parachute clothing was popular (Or rather: They didn't have any cloth, so they used that).

but no concert in New Orleans or Caroline before 1968

It pisses me off when we always want to have
straight & clear keys to all the words in the lyrics,
the crypto to the metaphors.

There might be more than one meaning.

Well, we ARE hearing several point of views here, Baboon. Some of them, new to me, at least.

Was just reactin on the first question; people like the Stones
or famous authors, poets, rock lyrics writers etc always are believed
to write about themselves. What if they dont!?
