I also happen to be a writer,51 from Maryland, and have loved the Stones since I heard Satisfaction on my transistor radio.I saw the Stones first in 72 at the celebrated Philadelphia Special show and have seen them again a bunch of times since 89. Now my teenage kid is addicted to the band, having seen his own "Philadelpia Special" last October.

That's cool troubador. Wow, Bombay, you really are a troubador aren't you? I lived in India for a year with my family when I was 4 and 5 years old in the early 60's. Namaste. I have two beautiful daughters who don't like my music yet (but they will). Instead they like Black Eyed Peas and Kanye and Kelly Clarkson and you know what, I listen too just to make sure I aint missing anything.
My name is Alan; I'm almost 45; bought my 1st Stones' album as a was a wee lad of 14; 1st saw them in '81; like to travel; have no special talents but will try almost anything once; wish I could play an instrument; my best piece of memorabilia is an autographed copy of Black and Blue; still trying to figure out my Europe plans.
First heard the Stones on my crystal set (ANYONE remember those???) in my bedroom in Perth with my set picking up somewhere in the UK. I had been hearing The Seekers and of course The Beatles etc, but nothing really hit me til that night....when I heard Route 66 thru my tiny earpiece. Shit...it was all over! They were it then, they are it now.
My first record (album) was Vanilla Fudge's self titled album with their long version of "Set me free why dont you babe woo oo oooo, you just Keep me Hanging on"....but my first Stones record, the EP of Route 66. I was 9yo.
Been with em since, every record/casette/cd bought on the day of release.
My first date with my wife of 31 yrs was at the WACA in 1973 seeing the Stones. Rough and ready (the Stones, not the wife!!!)...THAT boot is a prized possession. Remember big Ollie Brown sitting on a stool playing percussion, Mick Taylors searing guitar lines, Mick holding a cricket bat and the headlines in the Sunday Times (local paper) claiming that the smell of pot hung over the ground. Not much mention of the music. That show, and The Enmore Theatre in Sydney during the 2003 Licks tours have been my Stones highlights. The Voodoo Lounge show in Perth in 1995(?) was a spectacle, but musically too safe for me.
I'm a 32 yr. old network administrator/guitar player/Rolling Stones fan from Essex, Connecticut. Been a loyal Stones supporter since I was turned onto them by my brother when I was 7 yrs. old (1980). Quick, simple, to the point. I'm out.....
